Generally speaking, an eight mile e.t. will be about 64% of your quarter mile time, assuming you don't run out of gear or motor before you reach the finish line.
So in your case a 7.9 eighth mile would be 7.9/.64 = 12.34 seconds. Not bad

Engine in the stude is 455 Buick. Flat tops, we have to go .038 over on pistons to get to a 440 Mopar size ring because we can't get good rings in the 455 Buick size, solid cam, ported aluminum heads, t-400, 3.73 rear, Cal-trac's, rev limiter to save motor if something goes awry. No spray, no transbrake. I feel like it's somewhat HAMB friendly. Engine hasn't been produced since 1976. Way harder to build than any of the big three powerplants. I just wanted something different. I hope I haven't contributed to some kind of a pissing contest here. If I have I apologize.

My old street-licensed Street Roadster would do 200 in the quarter-mile.

(The quarter-mile at Bonneville is between the "2" and the "2 and 1/4" lights.)

The avatar runs a 14.2s quarter. Holley-fed 327, TH350 with 2800 stall, 3.08 rear end with LSD, 8" street tyres. It does grocery-getter duties, the kids drive it on their Learners permits, tows a trailer, drives itself to and from the drags.

It's no rocket, but the balance between useable and fast feels about right for now. Lot quicker than the factory 19s quarter :)

    Cheers,
    Harv

  6. From my previous post the coupe runs 4.23 in the eighth at 153 mph. Street driven.

Street driven? That last post of yours shows a tow-hitch and trailer

Hats off to you (and Jim) for building insanely fast, reliable, street driven vehicles.

That's why I don't have a street/race car, lost my license to many times.
I'm good with just a racecar now.

    Lol.

If that thing does 6 seconds in the quarter, and 4 seconds in the eighth, I wonder what ET it makes if racer-x inadvertently leaves the trailer hooked up?

I bet the damn thing is still quicker than my avatar :D... wonder if that is a 6-second trailer?

    Cheers,

I feel the same as you about racing my rod. Hopefully, we will meet at Lonestar Roundup in Austin someday or maybe the Bayou Roundup in Lafayette. I'll buy the first five rounds !

This is my current summer daily driver that I used to do some light duty 1/8th brackets with. Being a ragtop and no roll cage I don't get to 1/4 mile unless I'm at grocery getter speeds. The reaction time could have been faster and I got some tire spin even on Mickey DOT Drags (I had Diamond Back red line 'em to match the fronts and mounted them on 10" deep SS1's) so my 60 foot wasn't great. Drive in, drive out, spare tire and golf clubs in the trunk, 8 track under the dash. Oh yeah, 8.00 was my dial in so I broke out but I had fun doing it! Bracket racing is dumb but the Olds is a rocket!

Pics to verify car number on ticket. Not that anyone would be doing any bench racing on the internet.

Here's my dad and I's old '31 coupe. 10.64 @ 130.4 MPH w/ 1.52 60 ft. We just ran this a few weeks ago out at our local track- Penwell Raceway. DA was 3550'. SBC power, Muncie 4-speed and spindle mounts on front.
Please ignore the horrible RT. Our track recently changed over to a new style lights on the tree and the sun was shining on it at such an angle, that I couldn't see any movement on the bulbs.

I was going to reply two gallons. My Olds is quick but thirsty as a sailor on shore leave.
