Here is the pattern that I am going to use to cast some flathead blower intake manifolds. IMG_20170118_202200712_HDR.jpg IMG_20170119_120153737_HDR.jpg

I really think that the 4-53 GM blower is the best for use on a flathead. I am working on a pattern for an intake manifold too accept one of these. I see that you used the stock oiling system instead of using sealed bearings. Nice job on running the oil lines by the way. Does this setup work well for you? I have a blower setup guy about 30 miles North of me that has a number of 4-53s.

    Hi 55willys

In terms of the oiling there are a few of them running around in Oz using the stock oiling system. If you want to use sealed bearings there is not a lot of meat in the case to fit them so the ones I have seen use the stock pressure fed system.

The one's I have seen just oiled from the one side but I figured it might be better to pressure feed from both sides that way each bush/bearing gets the same amount of oil so that's what I did. I was concerned about loosing oil pressure to the rest of the engine so I put a restrictor in the feed line. I am using the pressure feed from the back of the engine with a Y adaptor into the Y...... I tapped a thread so I could screw a carby jet into the feed line. I figured that way I could adjust the oil flow if I needed to but haven't had to worry about it.

The other thing I did was so that the front snout and rear cogs ran in oil I inserted some small drain pipe into the front case so that the oil 1/3 fills the case before overflowing into the return drain pipe.

PS good luck with your casting enterprise. My buddy who did all the machining and one off parts for me and I looked at casting some of the inlets and adaptors but in Oz we came to the conclusion that the market is just small and the cost too high to make it seem like a worthwhile exercise.

Sorry for the delay in pics (like my build I am a bit slow) Not the greatest machining pics but you get the idea

I posted on this thread a few years back while under construction. It did get finished and has been racking up the miles.

An original Italmechanica which we ran on our 37 coupe. It ran ok. Used it with our 34 pickup display at the national hot rod show In December 1999

We got offered what I thought was silly money for the above IT blower , let it go. Bought a new H&H one put it on a 265 flathead . Could never get it to make decent boost using the H&H supplied pulleys ,all it did was look good and get in the way of the intake charge . So now sadly it’s wall art.

Jack Runners blown t bucket. Firse with the 6-71, and later, swapped to a 4-71, which worked a lot better. DB48840F-FEB4-49A1-AF66-1BBE1C6863B3.png C5E5D8FD-F902-498A-9C12-DABCA9C59828.jpeg 4A042D33-0C19-4745-816C-7C39D4AF216C.jpeg
