Hello, When we were starting out, we had planned on getting a local artist to paint on some lettering on the side of our 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. Over the years we had owned it and worked on it to get it to the point of being a reliable daily driver, it had other jobs we created for it. As much as advertising works for some and not for others, we actually did not want to drive around with a sign painted on the side. We found out that a small door size magnetic advertisement did not qualify for a tax business discount on family hot rods or daily drivers. We had to have a certified painted on design to qualify for the discount on our taxes. It had to be a certain amount of the overall car and not just a small foot square sign on the door. (Or rear door.) We thought of everything and we knew the people were not happy with the point and shoot Brownie cameras so popular for family photos. So, we wanted to capture that audience with some quality 35mm color slides turned into 5x7 and 8x10 color prints for gifts. Plus, the handmade redwood frame with a floating centered mounted photo was pretty original and a good look. It fit with antique furniture, back then 50s-60s era furniture and even just funky coastal color. (upper middle in the old photo) We used antique wood from old torn down houses and nearby farm equipment barns structures. The redwood/cedar strips made a good solid frame without the fear of termites in the long run. The photos were “floating” in front of the redwood/cedar frames. Jnaki One time, we were going to have a different holiday scene in our dinky apartment. We wanted a minimal celebration and decided to have a dried flower pot with a flickering candle behind it that we would light every night. We had a bunch of the same candles, so, it could last several hours of dark times listening to our music. No small or large tree, just a set up next to the stereo speakers. This was our absolute minimalist version versus having a decorated tree with presents all around the base. Just a flickering candle glowing in the darkened room, while we were relaxing, together on our pillows. Note: We took several photos of family members and gave them away as Christmas gifts to start the word of mouth custom photographic business. We even had business cards made several a month later in January. When we sold the 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery years later, I cleaned out the glove box. I left our supply of 8 track tapes in place and found an old worn card with water marks in the corner edge, hidden under a bunch of other stuff. So, it shows our interest in photography business and where we wanted it to go for our casual lifestyle. It is the last remnant of our fledgling photo business from those casual days of being 20-30 somethings. Note 2: Almost as minimal as last year during our unplanned construction in our current small house. It was supposed to be finished a week before Christmas, but as construction goes, plans go awry and we adapt to make it seem better… Our old sailboat decoration lights converted to a single frame light show…YRMV Happy Holidays !!!
