Wow! Talk about a "Dream Team"! Not surprising they set some records, with that amount of talent! My Mom had a '62 Star Chief (That was one-long sumbitch!) that I really liked. I could live with a Gran Prix or Catalina if someone forced it onme.
I'm thinking this was a miserable experience. Noise, exhaust, prop wash w/ snow and wind, people dumping in front of you at 40 mph, wood skis with leg breaking bindings. I'd take downhill over this anyday. That being said, I'd pay to watch them. pics
That had to be worst handling car I can imagine. With all the different tire angles pictured here, I’m thinking you had no idea which way it was going next!
thank You Ron ..I have really enjoyed your many posts. You have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well.
Looks like Washington Highway 14 at Cape Horn along the Columbia River. Until about the early-mid '60s this stretch of road was covered by a 'shed roof' to protect it from falling rocks. The wire nets replaced the shed and improved the view of the Gorge, but the shed was kind of cool....kind of like a long, curved tunnel.
THOUGHT I KNEW ALL THE DETAILS ON WWII PLANES. THIS WAS A NEW ONE. EXCELLENT INFO, APPRECIATED VERY MUCH. MLIGHT9
