Just noticed your headlight stantions with directionals, are they from a big truck or did pickups come with them too? Merry Christmas!

Big trucks only Bob . They are running lights ,but could be used for directionals. I believe they came out in 1941 on the 1 1/2 ton

Direct bolt on or do they need to be fit? They look nice.

I gotta hand it to you guys that can "live with" that grille...;). I built this '39 back in the '90s and only drove it for about a year before I couldn't stand the "barrel nose" anymore. I modified the front sheet metal and adapted a '36 pickuo grille. (the cat on the roof approved) 39xxx.jpg

1940 & 1941 conventional big trucks and COE's thru 1947 but I could be mistaken on the COE's.

  7. Just got this one road worthy. Got it in May but a lot of small issues slowed me down. 20211203_123932.jpg 20211203_124334.jpg

Post a list of your needs here and on the want-adds. Please include your home-town or "area",,, so we know where abouts you are .I find that some bigger parts can be had allot easier, if THEY/YOU are close by .There's quite a bit of information on here and The Fordbarn on the Suttle differences between 38 vs 39 trucks. GRILL to me is the biggest. The Ashtray is 38 only . Oh and 39 is the first year of hydrologic breaks.. .I
have some 38-9 truck parts . I wouldn't bother trying to ship a fender West of the Mississippi. Too much money , but I would to Florida... Normal size parts now cost more to ship then I sell the part for ! We love photos here and......Welcome to the HAMB

  10. Can the 39 headlight buckets be adapted to use the 40 big truck seal beam lights? I just finished a set of the later stanchions with the parking lights to be used as turn signals and if I need the later buckets I will wait to change them. I'd prefer seal beam over the halogen bulbs that I see a lot of people converting too.

Sorry, my '39 doesn't have '39 lights. There were changed out to sealed beam units before I bought it.

Hello All . I'm ready to buy the interior headliner set for my 39 picup. I have heard good things about cartouch (macs) as far as fit . I need a set ,except for the door panels . I have the taterd remains of the red carboard from its earlier day as a fire engine. . I need a floor matt too. Cardboard vs Fiberglass? I will not be installing this . Is there a big difference as far as installation? Who do I want to get it from . I have the money so I want to jump

  15. '40-'41 big truck and '40-'47 cabover sealed beam lights are a bolt on for '38-'39 Ford trucks. The '40-'41 big trucks carried over '38-'39 front fenders, so the big truck headlight stands with the little parking lights are a bolt on for '38-'39 (those little parking lights are '37-'40 car interior lights). A '38-'39 complete headlight assembly is the same as a '35 car. '36 car uses the same bucket but the mounting stud is shorter. When Ford went to sealed beams in '40, they came up with the little lights in the headlight stands because the '39 and earlier bulb and reflector headlights had the parking lights behind the headlight lens, just a smaller bulb lower on the reflector than the main headlight bulb.

  16. Major change for my 39 this summer. Pulled the tired flathead and installed an Olds 324. Fairly easy swap, starter crossover, adapter to keep the 39 gear box and Hurst mounts with spacers. Only needed to remove an inch from the bottom of the firewall to clear the back of the Olds bell housing. I did upgrade to Zepher gears so now it's much more fun to drive.

62pan: it's not mine and I know nothing about it; it's located not that far from Melbourne, Victoria, Oz, away from main roads. I saw it several weeks ago, took some pics showing the side profile and put them on the 'sitting and rotting' thread. Someone asked if it was possible to photograph the front and I went there again a couple of days ago and saw that I could do that. I guess it was imported from the US in this form some time ago.

(I do realise that it's a bit cheeky putting these pics on this thread.)

These are some great pickups and ideas!! I am looking for a complete set of (steel) fenders for a 1938 pickup. If anyone has any leads, it's appreciated. Thanks
