Reason I ask is that, on the box his name is spelled wrong & there's a question mark by it.

No history expert but saying for a Lokar shifter sounds too newish. I would put credence to Mr. M’s thoughts .

What is it made of? If it is resin it may be from a mold made from a Norm original.

  8. I wanna say no,
As @Moriarity said, norms where out of wood.

if you look at a norm skull shifter it’s adorned with filigree, exaggerations and details , the more you look at a norm shifter the more you see and find .
This ones neat, but kind of boring .

    I want to say no.

More pic's of the top button that would be required for a Lokar, and yes it's wood.................... 20211218_141212.jpg

Every Gennie Norm skull shift knob that I have seen photos of (never saw a real one) have been like the one Moriarity showed above or this one on Ebay a while back. Serious attention to detail and lots of little features. Always carved out of some piece of real interesting wood.
I'd have serious doubts on that black one.

Carlisle. Works of art, but I don't get the skull thing. Maybe long ago it was traditional, but I think the Ratrod folks have corrupted the theme.

  16. Someone should start cataloging the known, existing Norm original shift knobs. These items are getting really pricey. This book of Norm knobs would help detect the FAKE knock off ones that will start coming out of the wood work.

Here's one on an auction site that has a diff. signature also. It does have the bullet shell.

Here's another, clearer shot of the signature, it's the exact same diameter as a penny. Anyone ever seen a real "fake" knob with a signature?

Take a look at this '32 Ford roadster, it was built in Tennessee, at some point the owner died and it ended up in Lexington Arkansas, new owner Tommy Bufford. It was eventually sold to a friend here in Wa.St. The shifter ended up being part of the deal, just trying to track down the knob's authenticity if any. Didn't Norm live in this area later in life?

  27. Norm lived in Lead Hill, Arkansas I believe. My dad drove out there to visit him once. According to the map Lexington, AR is only about 2 hours away so it’s definitely possible.
