Hey Guys I Have an opportunity to pick up a nice 32 Cab but I have a couple of questions. I am 6 feet 2 inches about 210 lbs and a couple of friends have told me i will never be happy with it do to the size of the cab. Are there others my size that have made adjustment to overcome this without stretching the cab. thanks Mercuryguy

I'm 6.1 and 260 and have built 4 chopped deuce pu's. I'm very picky about the steering wheel position, seat and the pedal position. 2 of the trucks had automatics and 2 had 5 speeds. My current truck has swing pedals which give better foot room and I also have cruise control which makes long distance driving easier. This is probably my last as I'm 76 but if I were younger I'd do another.

Every truck was different as far as the ergonomics go. I just built them th fit at the time.

  5. 6' 4" and 235, I drove my pickup for 7 years, I did some long hauls in it, I removed the gas tank inder the seat to lower the seat position, build the interior to fit you. HRP

  6. Im 6ft 1 160 lbs, and seldom drive my 32 PU.I have the stock seat, and its too tall, and the back too thick. Mine has the factory bracing wood behind the seat. If this was removed,or replaced by steel that was recessed more to the back of the cab there would be several more inches to move to the rear. Some sort of custom seating could cure this. For me.....just easier to jump in the 55 Cameo.

The 32 pickup has a flat firewall vs the bowed out firewall on the 33-34’s.
I’d change to a later model firewall and then make seat and steering column adjustments. I’m 6’3 and 225.
The 34 firewall is made and sold aftermarket.
    I’m comfy.
I can provide measurements if you asked nicely. :)

I’ve added some pictures for clarification.
    Please excuse the rough drawing.
A lot of the dimensions were taken from the door and floor opening edge.
Let me know if you need any others.
I believe the seat is the second or third seat from a 60’s van based on the tubing frame underneath. PJ

  11. Hey Mercuryguy, I have 32 cab and am hoping to try and make some serious progress this year. The advice given here is very sound, krylon32 knows his stuff and has helped me a lot. I have a 34 firewall (really rough) to gain some extra space, also using a set of under dash swing pedals as suggested. Seating is critical, I have a cheap 3rd row seat that I'm using for mock-up out of a Nissan Patrol 4WD (not sure of the US version) and it gives me a good idea of space and ergonomics. Reducing the seat back width, can make a huge difference.

As I'm staring with a pile of parts I'm going to try and be smart with my chassis, and hope to build some foot wells into the floor for some added space and foot comfort. I'm also using an automatic transmission for practicality.

It is possible to have a comfortable chopped 32-34 pickup.

    Good luck !

I have a long term 32 PU build. It's chopped 3", channeled 5", I'm 5'9" and it's a real struggle to fit my legs between the pedals and the steering wheel with a minimal seat.
