What a great kick-ass modified! Love the overall look and stance; let me be the first to ask for some details; front axle 37-41 Ford? Stahl Sport radials? 5.00 and 7.00 x 16? Very nice indeed.

"5280A2", the front axle is '37-'41 Ford. The rear end is '40 Ford converted to open drive via Hot Rod Works kit. The tires are Coker Classic 550R16 front and 700R16 rear on '35 Ford wire wheels. It has quarter elliptical springs front and rear. The shocks are home made friction type on the front and tube type on rear.

I like it a lot. I find myself thinking a lot about how basic could a person build a car, with nothing more than the essentials, and that one pretty much fits the bill.

Thanks for the extra info! Any insight into how you made the shocks?

That turned out great! I love the little nailhead, very nicely detailed. A friend has a freshly rebuilt 264 in his 56 Buick Special Coupe, he also has a TH350 behind it and I was amazed how well that little engine moves that tank around. My guess is, the TH350 swap helped a lot.

Tim, as shown in the photo the design is pretty simple. The lever is aluminum and the stationary parts are steel. The friction material is from McMaster-Carr and is used in clutches. The tension springs are Buick valve springs. I won't know how well the shocks work until the car is actually on the road.
