I happened to find this online. Has anybody seen the new wheels in real life? What retailers will be selling them?

Looks just like the "new" Halibrand wheels from a few years back.
Easy way to tell, the one shown above has the very thick center flange as the "old-new" ones from...a few years back.

The original magnesium Halibrand wheels had a much thinner center web, than these "new" versions.

If they are like the "original-new" copies, yeaah, from a few years back, beside the thick center web, they look fine. I actually have a pair...that I lent to a friend for his Studebaker build. I'm old enough, that I'll probably never see them again !

  3. Very interesting. Was it Holley who bought the Halibrand name?

Seems like Holley bought up quite a few. Makes me a little skeptical and nervous.

  5. ......Are they bought up ones or all new ones? It appears that they are all new ones.

  6. This is good news to me. I'd like a set for my coupe and American Rebel MFG are nice but really pricey!

Good news, I guess, too bad that Ted's name was drug through the mud due to the misadventures of the previous owners of the company.
Sure hope these aren't part of the new product line!

The only difference I noticed is that the word "Halibrand" is stamped at the end of the spoke, rather
than over the valve stem area...no big deal...

The American Rebels are a bit more pricy but are made in the United States. Not sure where the Holleys are made, but I do have a guess...

It would be interesting to know where the wheels are manufactured and what method was used to make them. American Rebel wheels are cast, but it must be a high end type of casting process because mine are extremely nice quality and they polish perfectly. Also Holley only offers the Sprint style not the kidney beans. (I am running A.R. Sprint style on the rear and kidney beans on the front)

I have been assured they are USA made. Gentleman on the 1932 Owners Group called Holley and was told they are indeed USA. I was afraid they would be China too.

If you zoom into the pics on they holley site you see this on a wheel.....
    check out the N...

also the new wheels have a butt ugly placement on the halibrand logo

also the 15x10 doesnt look right to stretched...

when i will get sprints i would go to rebel firsthand or real rodders

As said above, here is a close up of the backside of the new Sprints...looks like they are made in China...

So much for their assurance of being made in the USA!

One more vote for American Rebel Wheels. Nice wheels and nice folks.

  22. My vote for best reproductions goes to the VintageHals made by Paris Fish. Sand cast and machined in Los Angeles during the 1980's. Too bad that they are not available anymore..... vintage hal wheels.jpg VintageHals a.jpg VintageHals b.jpg

I bought a pair of 15X4.5 and 15X10 American Rebel wheels and couldn't be happier. Excellent quality wheel with outstanding polishing. Great to deal with, quick service. I'll spend a little more for parts made in the USA.

Nothing wrong with some of the offshore wheels, the new generation American five spokes for instance are nice, at least they were when they first came out.
Just a personal feeling but it's a shame with the Halibrand name having the "Made in China" connotation.

  25. Not like Richard LeJeurne did anything to sully the name! HA!

Bought a pair of fronts for a 32 sedan I had in the past. Was in Wichita KS on business and drove down to Richard’s place in Wellington to get them. They said they were blems but I could never find a blemish. Interestingly a friend I worked with became a President of Triumph Industries and they bought an Aerospace business Richard had and ended up with all the Haldibrand stuff. They wanted to sell it so he asked me to take a look at it. Lots of stuff but no way to figure out what was good and $400k was too speedy for me. Not sure what happened to the stuff.

Well, I bought a set of the new Halibrands. BEFORE I read this about China. At just shy of $300 a piece, plus sales tax with FREE shipping they are still a good deal. I hope they have a decent polish on them.
I want to take the 15 x 14 Billet Specialties off the 40 Willy and go to 10 inch on the back.> With a 572/620 HP crate motor I may regret doing that. lol 000_1628.JPG 000_1611 (1).JPG
About 6 months ago I bought a set of Rebels (USA) and they were very nice, Super polish on the Rebels. 000_1628.JPG
