I'd say the grille is '59 Chrys Imperial, and the guard is '55 Chevy

    Imperial was a standalone company.

I agree, '59 Imperial and '55 Chevy. Here's a pic of another '55 Chev guard with it's original box.

And the insanely cool Imperial this grille would have come from. Those Chevy guards are fairly common and not crazy valuable but the Imperial grilles were a common swap onto custom cars and good ones are pretty sought-after.

There was a '59 Imperial in the movie Secondhand Lions. Best part of the movie to me.

Thank you. That's right up there with those who insist on calling the Continental Mark II a Lincoln.

They sure did get it wrong. Don't get me started about what passes for automotive journalism these days where writers don't even know basic automotive historical facts.

Imperial was the Chrysler Corporations's luxury automobile brand from 1955 to 1975, and again from 1981 to 1983.

The Imperial name had been used since 1926, as a Chrysler luxury model, the Chrysler Imperial. However, in 1955, the company spun off Imperial into its own make and division to better compete with its North American rivals, Lincoln and Cadillac. Imperial would see new or modified body styles introduced every two to three years, all with V8 engines and automatic transmissions, as well as technologies that would filter down to Chrysler Corporation's other models.

Making a separate Division doesn't make it a different Company. The Company was Chrysler (Corp.).

That's true, but it's like saying a Ford Lincoln. Imperial is the make, just like Lincoln is the make, even if Ford Motor Co makes Lincoln. Same thing happens a lot with Edsel and DeSoto, they get called a Ford Edsel and a Dodge Desoto (that one is especially odd).

I guess technically it's not wrong, you could call any Chevy a General Motors Chevrolet, it just sounds strange.
