I have pictures in the back of my mind how I could really screw this up, like I don't have enough problems. Lucy...time to change the bandages

I support the title of this thread, and am all for failed flamethrower attempts.

I guess another type of Flame Thrower Fail would be when the clusterfuck does work, and you scorch the skin off of some poor bastard standing near the chaos.

It seems vaporizing the fuel would fix the whole thing.

    Interesting comments.

My understanding, of some of the comments, is that it is very dangerous to build a flamethrower exhaust. But, on the other hand, it is okay to install a very big, high horsepower engine in an old car that was originally designed for a very small 4 cylinder engine. There seems to be a conflict here. By definition we defy logic and safety with what we do. The trick is to do these things we enjoy, without hurting yourself and others.

Apples and oranges. Big, bad engines generally have heavily modified frames, axles, drive trains and safety equipment. Only the body style is essentially kept. Experimentally setting your car on fire when you don't know what you are really doing has nothing in common.

In a perfect world you would be correct. Are you saying that you believe every modified car is built using a common sense approach to good engineering practice and safety principles??? I'll let you in on a secret. There are a lot of "mavericks" out there who have neither the inclination nor intellect to worry about such things. You blissfully drive amongst them every day...........:eek::eek:

Flamethrowers. For those moments when you think, "What I'd really like is to set fire to those people over there..."

Amen. There is a time and a place for most things. The trick is to understand and to employ that time and place.

You are correct. And I think about it every time a Jeep drives past :)

What a weird pushback. Flamethrowers have always been part of the kustom scene. I think they're bitchin.

Were it me I wouldn't use gasoline. There are probably aerosol options that would spray better and won't result in dangerous puddles if they fail to ignite.

  23. After a careful study and tabulation. I’ve noticed that the extremely negative comments seem to drop off during the televised re-runs of Matlock and The Golden Girls. ;)

  25. This thread cracks me up. I thought the HAMB was a bunch of hoodlums?????? Sounds more like the Safety Police! :):D

I've only ever seen flamethrowers on rat rods.

    Are they considered traditional?

Having the balls is not the issue. Getting third degree burns on them does cause some concern...........
All I am saying is experiment carefully. He seems to be somewhat in the dark regarding the ignition of gasoline.
