Ed “Axle” Stewart is the Prowler member who most likely made one of the biggest contributions to hot rodding with his dropped axles. This is Ed with his outstanding ’32 roadster in 1948, easily identified by the frenched door hinges.
Here’s Stewart’s roadster as it arrived at El Mirage being towed by a Ford sedan. The rear tires have some serious knobby tread for traction on the lakebed. Of interest is the single center taillight and smaller light on the side of the framerail. “Axle King Beetlebom” painted on the back.
