I drew this 1958 Chevy for my father in law for Christmas. He loves fishing, so put it in this shadow box with a fishing pole and net. Kind of a fun departure from the norm.

Micron pens and Copic markers on toned gray paper. Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Hello,

In the early days of Lion’s Dragstrip from the 1955 Grand Opening to the 60s, the name Joe Itow was prevalent in a lot of hot rods and drag racing vehicles. There are some results from earlier days at the Santa Ana Dragstrip in Orange County just 26 miles East, too.

There have been plenty of old grainy newspaper photos and the articles never told what color the 1940 Willys Coupe was during those times. So, taking some creative interpretations of the look of the early stories, colorizations, old articles and as many photos found, a a chance drawing is always fun.

Black primer was a popular color and one time, a possible purple color was in a long, lost storyline. But, there were never color photos from that time.

The purple version of #7 Evans Speed Shop with the Joe Itow Automotive build. There was some mention of "color" being added to one of the builds during the early history of So Cal drag racing days.

Then since it is December and the "Red" themed holidays are with us, here is a Red version of #8 Fechtner Brothers /Joe Itow Automotive Willys Coupe.
