  1. We do!
I was reluctant, but you're right; it will look more "right" chopped slightly.

  8. 66097634253__366415FE-D680-4E27-B9C6-12CC17B07F48.JPG welded the 1/4 window on the pass side up and got the sail panel welded to the lower quarter panel. I also cut loose the lower quarter patch in front of the wheel and reset the angle and started welding in the rear corner on the panel as well. Did a lot of work on the subframe and modified it pretty heavily to clear the Vicky doors. Everything is tacked in on both sides. I apologize for the lack of pictures on those. I will get some better shots this weekend.

I hadn’t seen anyone show how to do this so I took some video and detailed pictures of how I did it. As you can see I used tape and laid out 1” from the inner face of the flange and cut along the edge of the tape to keep it a true 1” spacing and repeated this process for my second measurement taking a total of 21” out of my 40 ford truck torque tube. It’s just tacked in to the flange and mocked up to keep the wheels from shifting around while moving it in and out of storage. My overall length now is 51” which lands the cone/cup perfectly into the 39 top loader trans and bolted up. I still need to shorten the driveshaft as well which I’ll do once I finish building the trans as my mock up trans is seized up. I’ll finish TIG welding the torque tube when I shorten the driveshaft and install it.

  9. IMG_0352.JPG i picked up this neat old chromed v8 center section for the rear end and I got some old chromed rear radius rods as well to dress up the back of the car… 66015685400__CC484BEC-D105-4A68-8DCB-EC0BDBE5FFBB.JPG 66015687905__0AE2261C-C98D-4108-968B-D2A5F2BC2495.JPG I’ve decided to run this old Scheifer aluminum flywheel. Dropped it at at the machine shop and having it surfaced and pilot bearing installed. I also took my engine back and am having them regrind the cam to L100 specs for a more ear pleasing tone! My Fenton heads came back good and had them deck and blasted.

  10. FB546C78-EB31-4187-A546-85EEDE26DBC3.jpg the motor fresh from the machine shop, bored .040 over, isky valve springs Johnson’s adjustable lifters, cleaned and polished the OG Merc 4” crank. Pistons are installed now as well with ford connecting rods and at this point it had a Isky Max 1 3/4 race cam after further research and sound reference, that cam didn’t have as much attitude as I was hoping for which is why I went with the Literio L100 grind. 65583727591__079EF5D8-183B-4E3E-930C-5B919DB92E1B.JPG speed parts in the house?! Quick update on the car. Been steady on it I’m just not on this page that much. Workin on getting the rear of the car done and buttoning up the motor. Trans is almost finished and about ready to put into the car wanted to finish the firewall and tie boards before I put the actual engine it. Finally sorted out the front end and got the radiator installed in the shell and fitment going back to the cowl damn near spot on. The typical gap at the bottom of the hood but I can live with it. Got the gauges installed and discovered the aristocrat panel was made to go Over the original stock ford panel. So I tracked one down and am going to fit it to the panel this week. Nearing the end of metal work or I can at least see my “roadworthy” finish in sight now. Itll stay black like this for a while until I can really finish the patches at the bottom and what not. It’s been pretty ridiculously cold in the tent but still plugging away on it. You can see the snow on the floor in a couple pictures before I put the tarp up.

Take an exacto knife and cut that superfluous gasket material away while you can get to it. I used the same intake gasket, hard to trim once installed.

  25. I painted the motor in the shape of that gasket so unfortunately it’s going to stay. I don’t hate the look of the gasket. I suppose once it comes back from the machine shop, I can cut to fit the intake and repaint the top of the block

Modified my stock model A subrails to flow with the 32 frame. Harbor Freight shrinker/stretcher works dynamite! Cut the subrail and extended it to match the 32 5 window wheel wells and really love the result. Modified the triangle corner brace to sweep uphill and folded the edge over. Got the shitty corner patches “fit” to the body and partially welded in. Only workin with a 125 Lincoln Mig welder run off an extension cord so bare with me on the welds…not my idea of metal work either but it’s what I got right now. Had to recurve the panel below the decklid slightly to fit the body better and got the gaps lined up pretty nice. Also dig out my old cast iron 2 carb intake and Merc heads for a little mock up. That’s a stock ford intake with the Gotha carb risers brazed on, 2 big logo 97 Strombergs sit atop that killer intake with all the original linkage and lines how I found it in the basement of the same junkyard I got my 304ci ex race Flathead from that you see in this picture being used as my mock up engine now. (Cracked number 8 cylinder) I’ll eventually have this motor redone the way it was. The Jahns 3 3/8 1/8 LC pistons, camshaft and crank are in great shape so I will reuse them…one day

I always enjoy seeing your Thread back up Dylan...the subframe mods look factory...the repurposed bracketry helps bring it all together as well...Gotha what a name sounds like a factory from the land of Batman...:D

    High 5s Hamber...;)

  28. I appreciate that man thank you, I’m very pleased with how the subframe came out as well. Trying to get it as close to a stock appearance as I can.
Ahaha absolutely it does, I hadn’t found too much on the Gotha name but I did find an ad for the risers, love the idea someone was too poor to buy an aluminum two pot intake but scraped together just enough dough to buy these risers and block off plate and have them brazed on. Anything to go faster lol! Probably my favorite intake I’ve collected.

I doesn't look bad now...once your strombergs leak all over it (and they will) it won't look very clean anymore (experience talking). My block was painted prior to that gasket as well, after trimming I thinned some maroon enamel (so it would flow) and brushed it on and clear coated it with a brush as well.
