Ok this is not a gas station, but a very immaculate extensive restoration of a 1938 Diamond T Texaco tanker in NZ . While not a gas station it makes a great read of a couples determination. I remember seeing it at Duane Jones in Bakersfield when he had just received it ,to prepare it for shipping to NZ . Oh wow the enormity of the project was super scary. If the mods find this inappropriate please do your thing.

I think a subdivision full of these old restored stations with living quarters above them would be a good thing...........D

The airplane station still exists on Clinton Highway in Knoxville, but it's no longer a station, I believe it's a barber shop now. Many people helped years ago to save and preserve it. It's really close to the road, and when I was a little kid, I thought it was a real airplane. Very cool, thanks for posting it, and all the other pics, too

  10. If you have a pic of it now this is where it belongs. JW

The T pot Dome gas station in Zillah Wa after it's second move in 40 years. First shot is with my friend Tom's old 40 in front of it The 40 is now running around the Spokane area.
Second shot is after it was moved along I 82 outside of Zillah wa I lived across the road from it for about 3 years. last shot is an old one of it in it's original location about a mile away . Tom's 40 T pot.jpg T pot gas station 2.jpg T pot service station old.jpg
It is now the tourist info center for Zillah and a real popular photo spot for car folks.

  18. Just for the record, i started this thread to separate the modern pics of gas stations and the pre 65 pics as per HRP's thread. If this upsets some or confuses others, i a'm sorry but that is the intention of this thread. JW

We had the pleasure of meeting Lucille back in 1990 on our first Route 66 trip. What a character.
From memory she invited us into her living area and we got cakes!!
Of course she is gone now passing away in 2000.

First one is Broad Brook Garage in East Windsor, CT.

2nd one. Less gas was a garage and gas station run by my grandfather and grandmother in the mid 1930’s and is located on Kent street, Suffield, CT.
