In my late 20's there were several guys in my shop one night, a few were actually helping work on my sprint car. My dad was there making new radiator mounts, close to 70 but all the guys were buddies with him too. We did lots of joking around and picking on each other.

Stuckert asked my dad, "So, Lyle, what was it like before?"
He said, "Whadda ya mean, before what?"
Stuckert said, "Well you know, before they brought in all this dirt."

Everyone busted up, including my dad. Of course we had all heard the term older than dirt, but never presented like that, haha.

Personally, I like winter. All summer I'm on the go 12 to 16 hours a day (always light here then) and a lot of projects, big and small, just don't have high priority. No worries, just toss it in the shop or pile it close to the building so I don't have to move a bunch of snow to get it inside when it's turn arrives.

Now that winter is well underway it's shop time. It's 2 degrees below zero outdoors this morning, but soon I'll be in the shop with a fire in the big wood stove puttering along on my projects. Yesterday I finally got most of my bench cleared off, fixed a couple drill motors and made a new little shelf over my lathe to hold tooling and calipers, etc. Today I need to bring in a bunch of metal shelving parts and start on 4 new drawer cabinets so I can get that 40 or so gallons of hardware put away that have been accumulating in buckets and boxes for a few years. While that stuff is melting off and thawing out I can clean up around my short steel racks. I like winter, that's when I get caught up a little.

I'm relatively new to this thread/group but am excited about my recent purchase! Drove thru wind and snow showers to central PA on Black Friday to pick up this little gem. Has been stored and not run since the owners Grandfather passed away around 18 years ago. Not 100% sure at this point what the plan is but I've been wanting a Model A open car now for a while. '35 16" wheels for sure and a few engine mods like a head and downdraft carb are possibilities.
I'm anxious to get it out, cleaned up and get some better pics but for now I'm stuck in the house having tested positive for covid yesterday. 20211128_132332[1].jpg 20211128_132414[1].jpg

This little Sleigh got out on the road again after an altitude adjustment and a juice brake conversion... Got the brakes on and they stop so thats good. Gonna have to readjust them im sure as the brake pedal is a little mushy.

Still have to figure out shocks as none of the bolt ons want to work with fenders (even if thats how theyre advertised).

But happy to have her running and stopping.

checking in for the month got lots done but lots left to go need to be ready to ice race on 2/19/22 may need to cut some corners. Took a lot of engineering to get the engine set back a couple of inches from stock and still get things to fit right chassis 1.jpg chassis front 2.jpg chassis front 3.jpg front floor.jpg rear floor.jpg

Checking in hohoho! Super warm up here, but W-I-N-D!! @Binger knows what I'm talking about...
Picked up a nice little coupe a couple months ago, got the doors and charging working good so I'll hop up the engine now.

I would be too, looks to be a great start! :D
I hope for your quick and as painfree recovery as possible, @pkhammer.

Looks like it could use a lowering at the back, @G_Don - but I'd have to agree with @Fabber McGee and @winduptoy, this is kuul and sounds great!

    Looks like it. :)

    Why the setback, @burl ?
And would you mind sharing details about the wishbone mounts and gearbox-driveshaft coupling? :)

Let's know, what your up to! :D

Checking in with a pic of my "new to me" engine and gearbox-a rare find here in the UK fully rebuilt and a gearbox with 39 internals too.......beans for food for the next month or so! B engine.PNG I had intended to build my coupe with a 327 and muncie gearbox but after reading a few threads on here I decided a 4 banger was the way to go!

@burl is your pitman arm to wishbone clearance going to be adequate as the suspension moves, especially in LH turns? Ice racing sounds like a blast!

Checking in for the month. Yes @Jet96 I know all about the wind. HAHA. It has been unseasonably warm the last few days. I even drove the coupe into work today. 65 degrees on the 2nd of December is unheard of in Cheyoming!

Thank you! I got a T rear spring on deck, and some new shackles. The T spring being 1.75" and the A being 2.00" (if memory serves), I believe Ill need four 1/8" spacers on each side of the spring... Is that right? Back does sit a little high I agree haha.

Wanted to keep radiator in stock location. Things start looking out of proportion if you move it forward. The flat head radiator I'm using is also thicker and i plan on running a stock fan. I plan on using an open drive conversion like i did on my coupe. The rear wishbone mounts are just bolted in place with some angle iron until i decide where I'm going to mount them.

Yes i don't think it would work the way it is. Just mocked up for now till i get everything dialed in. I like to kind of rough mock everything and get it all together before i finish it up. I have found even when i think i have everything figured out something ends up not work and end up re-doing.

my experience with "T" rear was a waste of time . a reversed eye A spring with a couple of leaves out does better ........
