Our friend and confirmed Willys nut Bob Urban passed away on April 16, 2015 . Bob had moved from Florida to northwestern Oregon a few years ago and was busy rebuilding his business - Custom Auto Restoration Services (CARS). The most recent Portland Roadster Show was his last, as he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after. No services are planned. HAMB handle was dogcatcher33. This thread is open to your tributes. Have a good thought about our buddy Bob, whenever and wherever you can. He will be missed. Gotta go, I got something in my eye, Rob Frazier Best known for his involvement with The Dogcatcher 33, here is a pic of it while owned by Keith Ferrell.
Bob and I were South Florida Street Rod club members back in the early 70's. Lost track of him until I ran into him in the Stuart, Florida Harbor Freight store three or four years ago. Never bumped into him again then heard he had moved to the northwest. Very sad to hear of his passing. Lee
So Sad I will miss him another good guy gone. I hope his project go to good homes and get finished Especially DC3. God Bless you Bob May you RIP. Paul.
Sad news. Bob and I were Apprentices at Westinghouse Electric East Pittsburgh,PA. He bought a Henry J and put a Chevy in it. I think that was his first drag car. That was around 1970. Good guy, a very up person. God Bless
R.I.P. Bob. He worked with us at Crane Cams in the 1970's. Hard worker, very dedicated. Hadn't heard from him for over 30 years, and then he showed up at the Gatornationals four years ago. He still had the youthful enthusiasm from years past. His Willys and AWB niches gave him a great outlet for his creativity. He will be missed, Chase
Yes Bob was a member of the South Florida street rods when I was the president in 1974. I remember his purple ford Anglia, he was a great help to many of the members especially regarding cam shafts due to his working for Crane cams. He is someone you never forget. RIP old friend
So, I found my friend, the elusive Bob once again, but this time I'm too late. Here in West Virginia I knew him as Hemi Bob. I found him sitting in a pile of 60's Plymouth parts at the Mopar Nationals swap meet in Columbus in 2000. I bought a project car from him sight unseen. I just knew I could trust him. Way too much money back then, but looking back, what a bargain. It's been my pride, and money pit, ever since. A daily driver. When I found him later he was back in Melbourne, and we spoke for hours about that old car. He never would divulge it's questionable heritage. He spoke of his hurricane damage, and that he was getting ready to move to the Northwest. I'll miss that fellow, he taught me a lot.
If we can't, It will give us so much more time to tell stories and make each other laugh. Thanks Bob.
I was a member of south Florida street rods in 1972 & 3, green 40 ford tudor standard. I have about a dozen pictures of cars in the club from back then.
