They tell me that that was me, when little and I was confronted with Clarabelle the Clown, when the whole family, aunts uncles cousins grandparents went to Santa's workshop. It's also been said that my father had a hard time catching me.

I don't remember, but I'm sure it's why I dislike clowns to this day, 65 odd years later. Clowns are EVIL!

I guess we're covering the "other side" of Christmas;).

My greatest "Christmas fear" story paralleled Ralphie's bunny suit in A Christmas Story.

My eccentric, old maid, Aunt Bonnie from back east believed every boy should always be dressed as a "little gentleman" and would send an appropriate "outfit" every year for Christmas. Fortunately, my parents thought the clothes were nearly as ridiculous as I did, and would just say "she meant well" . I very seldom had to wear any of them:).

Also, I was quite young when I first told Santa (and my parents) NO CLOTHES for Christmas (or birthdays)...only toys.
In my "kid mind" I figured it was my parent's job to buy my clothes, they did it all year long. By getting clothes as a present, it was in theory, robbing me of a potential toy and replacing it with something that should have been supplied to me anyway.
    I WAS A PRETTY SPOILED KID:eek:;)

And everyone had an aunt who knitted! What's worse than getting a knit sweater for Christmas? Getting one knitted in itchy wool with sleeves about a foot too long!

We took my kid to see Santa at a local family owned restaurant before covid hit, and Santa had been burning some doobers before he got there. Dude STANK like skunk, lol, and was totally out of it. Like a TV skit. I spoke to him and asked him some question and he literally was like "huhhhh?". Was nice to the kid tho, so whatever....

Am I ready for Christmas? No. No I am not. Shopping to do and projects to finish for gifts.

Your Santa must be of the new standard, ours smelled like liquor.
I’m not ready either but started this post to get into the holiday spirit! It’s taken a few turns down the dark roads but I think we can get back on track. Or not…
