Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kustchops, Nov 27, 2021.

  1. Local thrift store score, little magazines nothing newer than 1964 back to 1953, a lot of northwest publications and first issue's. And a few old pictures. IMG_3562.JPG

Great score. I'd guess the world lost an old time hot rodder, and his family gave his stuff away. Glad you found it!

  12. I am waiting... for the telling of the ridiculously low price that was paid for all these items at the thrift store.

That's the best outcome when visiting a junk shop...thanks for sharing the goodies @Kustchops...it was a good day...many times our lives and history become junk shop treasures...sad but better saved and appreciated than being landfill...

  16. A local thrift shop that I donate to keeps an eye out for the occasional car stuff. The person who donated the magazines husband passed and the family was cleaning out the garage which was never disclosed. I do know there was vintage smut mags, I got a few mixed in, PG13 nowadays. So the family burned all the other boxes of magazines after finding out there was Porn. No one was into custom cars so they filled a 30 yard drop box with old parts wheels tires, basically everything in the garage. The were surprised the next morning that the dropbox was open, someone had took it all. So it is gone, have no idea of what cars, parts or just cool history I missed out on.
And 50 bucks for three boxes about 225 plus magazines.

Good to hear the stuff was saved from the drop box. Maybe they realized they made a mistake.

Thin positive thoughts. The magazines ended up in a good place.

You done great! The one and only time I found anything good at a thrift store was a big box of 58-62 AMT model cars, most of them built, in their original boxes. There was no price sticker on the box so I ask the manager for a price on all of them. He counted 20 of them so he said 50 cents each. I about broke my arm giving him the money!
