Rough to start with, much rust, no floor, and butchered frame:

Couldn't find Chevy deck lid so modified body to take 39 Buick (unfinished):

Never too much bracing to assure panel alignment and then onto rotisserie for floor pan work:

With body on frame panel alignment can be worked on.

Rotisserie is home made from cotton wagon axles, telescoping pipe between axles, and 3/4T spindles/hubs for rotating.

This sure brings back memories, or nightmares, as it's about the same condition my '39 Chev coupe was in when I bought it. All those hours replacing lower doors inner and outer. Replacing rockers, floors, lower 1/4 panels, tail panel, lower cowl and firewall. Replacing the entire attachment points on the body for both rear fenders. Only mine came with a fiberglass repop trunk lid, so no rust repair there, but still took work fitting that to my body!
Enjoying watching somebody else's path towards saving an old Chevy coupe!

Wow! Nice work on the trunk floor and tail panel. I had a 38 Chevy coupe years ago and had a bear of a time fitting a new tail panel and trunk lid. Keep up the good work.

  11. Nice work. I never would have thought about the Buick decklid, some great creative thinking.
