Art & Inspiration I received a very special gift today.

I’m a trim carpenter by trade but I’m also a jack of all trades in the residential building realm(shameless pat on the back).Today I set some stone around a fireplace for some good friends new home. I’ve been good friends with these folks and there mother and father for many years. So this afternoon I’d set stone to the mantle and started laying a few courses above the mantle when my friends dad shows up to say hi and check progress, we chat about what’s new in the world and then I said I’d better get back to it so I could get finished. I laid few stone and then marked a stone to cut, I went outside to make the cut and came back in and there was a gift sitting on the mantle. My buddy asked me if I had a picture of my 32 because he said he had a guy at work that was into old cars and wanted to see my car. Looking back now he wanted the picture for for his father in law Rick who is a master leather worker and tooled this for me in appreciation for working on his kids home. There is still so much good in the world, at least here in he mid west! And the flask was filled with good rye whiskey!!

rye whisky,,, I thought that was a cigarette lighter. I was so focused on the deuce!!!!

 

Once the rye is gone it's time for a little cinnamon snapps to help keep the cold winds at bay !!

Can't beat that for a thank you, and something to cherish. I love the leather stuff, and dabble in it a bit. A while back I stitched up a shifter boot for a buddies 50 Chevy.

That is Damn Cool!

There are definitely still good folks in the country & when someone takes the time & effort to do something like this, it shows! I can remember as a child, my Mom doing leather work (purses, wallets, etc) & saw just how much work went into each piece.

I do leatherwork during the winter & tooling leather to that detail shows real craftmanship. The Ford scrip & the staining is very nice touch.
