  7. A BIG shout out to the guys who have been lucky enough to be with the same woman for decades & enjoy this great hobby together! This coming from someone whose parents have been married for 61+ years. Regardless of whether it was a hot rod or an every day ride, Mom sat close to Dad & he had his arm around her. They held hands walking around a cruise or show & did everything together. This is what I saw & expected when I got married for the 1st time, well that didn't happen. 3 marriages that didn't last a total of 5 years. Now getting ready for number 4 & she loves the cars & the cruises! A great example was last weekend @ the Medina, Ohio square for the Christmas parade. The best part was the line of Model A's from the local club all decorated up & rolling along in the parade! Kudos to those guys who took the time to decorate their rides & participate! We appreciated it! I posted a picture of her in my Nash already in this thread, but here we are freezing our butts off to watch the Medina parade!

    God Bless
    Bill

I showed my wife the picture's of your wife and the 67 Chevy II and my wife Tamie really enjoyed all the picture's and wished we still had all our Chevy II's we also had a pearl white red interior 64 SS Chevy II 4 speed I taught Tamie how to drive it back in the 80's. So many fun happy memories of my Wife children and our Chevy II's years ago... Oh my wife said do you think they would sell the Chevy II or trade it for our 63 C10 Pickup? I told her it doesn't hurt to dream Sweetheart lol...
Keep enjoying your lovely Wife and your sweet Chevy II my friend.

^^ Thanks for the kind words. We had fun with our various Novas. I met
her in 1968 while driving my Sierra Fawn 1966 Sport Coupe. I was a senior
in high school and she was a chick from another town. We just celebrated
our 48th wedding anniversary. I'm afraid Tami's out of luck, this '67 is now
in Florida and I'm sorry I let it go. I hope you noticed the quarter panel.

Yes I see some work in the driver's side quarter panel now that you point it out to me. Michigan vehicles have trouble with wire worm's as well. When I traded our Blue SS Chevy II to my best friend Mike for his 66 SS Chevelle 283/4Sp Mike did much body work on the Chevy II then I traded off the 66 SS Chevelle and ended up with a 68 SS 396 Chevelle and then traded again to Mike for our Blue SS Chevy II back again, then that sweet Blue SS Chevy II after owning it again for about five more years was bought by another one of my very good friend's Big John Richardson and Big John cut up that sweet Blue SS Chevy II and painted it Red then made it into his Drag Car for many years driving it at Martin US 131 Dragway here in SW Michigan.
I'm not sure what happened to the Red SS Chevy II after Big John sold it? Big John ended up with another one of my street car's a 79 Z/28 I built completely engine trans to rear end. Big John liked it bcuz it was his favorite color Red and at the time John's Wife Louis had a 79 Camaro running it in the Women's Powder Puff Drag matches at US 131 Dragway. Big John and Louis both had 79 Camaro Drag car's back then. It was the first time I believe in their long Drag Racing career together that they had the same type of Drag Car. Louis's 79 being Canary Yellow.
Big John passed away, I miss him, He was a wonderful friend full of racing knowledge he shared with me and other's freely.
Big John had a life time of Hot Rodding and Drag Racing starting back in the 1950's up to a few years before he passed away 60+ year's.
    Sorry about rambling on everyone.
I met my wife Tamie when we both where in the 11th going into 12th grade and she was also from another little town about 20 miles west of my childhood home, We married in 1979.
My Wife Tamie and I are slowly catching up to You and your Wife's 48 blessed year's together.
My friend keep enjoying your lovely Wife and life together & Hot Rod's...
Thanks again everyone for putting up with me as I traveled down memory lane for a few minutes.

1Nimrod, yes, you see some rot there which is a real shame but I was
guiding you to the enlarged wheel opening. When my pal bought this
in 1970 he also bought a set of front fenders to use to open up the
quarter panels. It was a great idea since they matched the fronts
perfectly. Unfortunately, the work didn't hold up.

I think many of us had a Big John in our lives, a fellow a few years older
that we looked up to and got to learn from. They realized we wanted
nothing from them but to check out their cars and gain some knowledge.

Let me say that I enjoy reading the memories guys have of "back in the day".
We may have grown up in different parts of the country but had the same basic
types of experiences. One of my regrets is that I didn't keep a Kodak Instamatic
camera with me at all times as a kid. Brother, the cars I could've captured.
Bad pics are better than no pics.

I was telling my Wife that You and your Wife and our lives had so much in common it's great to hear about other couples on the HAMB that has survived all the ups and downs that life throws at us all each day. Marriage is a wonderful blessing but we are not the majority it seems these days. But I'm sure that our life stories are not the only two that's alike I'd like to think there are many many more Husband and Wives on the HAMB that has very similar life stories as ours my friend. Thank you for your kind words as well my friend...
    Stay the course my friend...

  28. A little bump, and a story. We drove down to the Turkey Run. I asked my wife to drive our 38 coupe on the beach at Daytona. I thought it would be cool to film her with our old 8mm movie camera. It sounded like a good idea at the time??? The only problem, as the waves were going back out, she followed them. Luckily the old Chevy sit high enough that the water didn't catch the fan, and stall out. She kept it running, and didn't even know that she had did anything wrong. lol Could have ended Bad! I do have it on our old movies. But no photos.:( Do you have any crazy, or silly pictures or stories?? 214.jpg 480.jpg
