Is a straight axle gasser acceptable around here? That's the plan for this guy... FB_IMG_1637720604060.jpg FB_IMG_1637720598514.jpg FB_IMG_1637720594835.jpg FB_IMG_1637720589902.jpg

Well, I APPROVE. A lowly , beat up 6 cyl. 4 door Falcon...not the most desirable of cars...makes it the perfect candidate. Unibody car so probably a full frame, and not just a stub for the front axle. Weld up the rear doors...instant 2 door. Go for it.

  7. go for it. the tiny wheel wells are just crying out for some fat tires. and those back doors will make radiusing the rear wells really easy. Building a car for HAMB approval will get you sainthood around here. Just remember, always ask for approval first. Just keep in mind who you'll be building it for and you'll be ok.

If there's one vehicle on this planet that's worthy of a sbc swap this is it.

Let the naysayers comments go in one ear and out the other. Build it out how you envision it. Build it so it keeps you safe

Wasn’t but a month or two ago another member was at the starting point of a similar year Falcon and going the gasser route. There was some good info in the thread about beefing things up.

Why do you so desperately seek approval from a group which does not approve?

    Honestly, the perfect "Gasser" candidate.
    It's a light car.
It's a piece of junk. (they were pieces of junk new much like the later M car they preceded) I like them I guess.
The engines, suspensions on these are pretty much junk unless you are running the small 6. It's a blank slate.

Karl, you might fit in better here if you drop a flathead in the Falcon and take about five inches off the lid. Plus, you'd stand out at any car show.

They don't need a full frame, or even a stub, unless the plan is for big power. An engine making under 400 hp will not be an issue in these early Falcon unibody frames. But if the plan is for a big block with lots of torque and HP, then by all means it needs a lot of frame work.
I built a BBC 468 in my falcon gasser, with a Super T10 four speed, and 8.8" Ford posi. Not only did I do a lot of frame work, but I also did a full cage and firewall supports out to the ends of the frame rails.
I personally wouldn't build a 4 dr. Falcon, but I'm an old dinosaur that thinks it's a lot of time, work, and money wasted on a 4dr. that wont ever be returned if I sold it. So I'd wait for a similar 2 dr. as they're still not that expensive in similar condition to this 4 dr.

I've already tossed around the idea of scrapping my other project and using the flathead.
