Projects 1946 Ford panel truck- what to offer?

Dang the price just went up - should have bought it before anyone got wise.........

 

You have to put the buyer into prospective, find out where he is coming from. I would asked, "well are you selling an old truck or are you selling it as an antique? But with any answer, what is the truck worth to you and offer that. Be done with it and remember, there is only one truck at that location and maybe many more buyers than you know of. If he has been holding onto the truck for a long time, he is not going to give it away.

That is a great jail bar panel truck no doubt. Start at $1000.00, slowly work your way to $3000.00, then stop and take a very deep breath and think it over. No doubt it has hidden rust, and you state that the engine hasn't run in a long time ! Sure it's probably worth 5K to 6K as @squirrel indicated, but the elderly gentleman knows what the truck is, and in this case, with tact and diplomacy, you should be able to get him to put a price on it!

I'm cheap. Can't imagine paying that much for one of those.

 

Heck, a few year back I sold a ‘42 PU that needed a lot of cab patches, otherwise pretty straight. I did put in a running 221. Went for 4500.
The pictured panel looks a lot nicer than what I had.

Man I know my judgement is a little off coming from rusty crusty New England but to me that looks like a pretty good truck.

 

I think it's worth that. I'd take $5000 and plunk it down with a couple hunnert in my other pocket

 

Sold one a year ago no title, engine, trans, or front clip, $1200 have another long wheel base lacking the same for the same money.

 

I always thought Panels and Deliveries made the coolest hot rods, but after driving them for close to 20 years...I'm just too old to deal with that big ass blind spot.
