Well, "I'm back in the saddle again" as they say. Just picked up this one, fuel injected 389 Pontiac, Plymouth IFS. I've got a little work to do but I'm a happy camper. Should be a cool parts chaser.

Wow, for its age, the bodywork that was done to install the head lights, looks like it was done yesterday.
Even the paint looks reasonably good, and I know it sat outside for some period of time.

I Just picked up this 50 Champion this fall, His name is Kilroy
I've always wanted a Bullet nose and this one just fell in my lap!
It was less than 3 miles from my home!!! And I drove him home

 

Started as a project and now Hooked on these cars

 

Looks very straight. Cathcart makes speed equipment for those flathead sixes and with the stock 3 speed OD it would be fun to drive.

 

Thanks Six Ball! It is a very straight and solid car! The 6 runs very nice after I adjusted the carb and the column shifts smooth. Unfortunately it doesn't have the OD but I live in the country and enjoy riding back roads so its ok The current plan is to leave it stock and drive it for a bit... But I may have to look them up!
On the other hand
Its kind of refreshing having a completely stock classic car

 

I just sold this one. The new owner was quite pleased with the car and the deal I gave him.

Actually, there was! George W. Mason was the head of AMC. His vision was to get Studebaker-Packard and AMC to merge. Of course he wanted to be in charge, and James J. Nance (Studebaker-Packard CEO) had an ego of his own and wanted the same. There were some preliminary talks as Nash-Kelvinator was negotiating the Hudson buy-out. They centered on stabilizing AMC and S-P then merging the two. S-P was on pretty solid ground at the time and really wasn't interested in a merger, but sort of held it as a thought for later. What did occur was that S-P agreed on a "cooperative parts venture" with AMC. Mason died rather suddenly in 54 of acute pancreatitis and pneumonia just a few months after forming AMC. Nance didn't work well with George Romney, Mason's protege and successor. S-P sold AMC Packard V-8s with Ultramatic (they had to buy them together, weren't allowed to use a different transmission), and sent a few parts bids over to AMC. They rejected all of AMCs bids on differing grounds. It soon became obvious that S-P had no intention of keeping their end of the gentleman's agreement to share parts. Honestly, Nance thought he was doing AMC a favor by providing V-8 engines and didn't feel he really needed anything from them. Romney ordered his engineers to get a V-8 out PRONTO, so he could ditch the S-P V-8s. The first AMC V-8 appeared just 18 months later in 1956. That's a phenomenally short time -- especially in drawing board and slide rule days! AMC sort of cheated -- they hired David Potter from Kaiser-Frazer. He had worked on a V-8 design for Kaiser that was only built as a prototype. The Gen1 AMC V-8 shares many features that were used on the Kaiser protoype, but it was a clean-sheet design and not based on the Kaiser. Still, his V-8 design experienced greatly shortened the process.

That's not a stock, Stude front suspension with those deeply reversed/wide wheels !? Obviously the rear axle has been narrowed too. I've done the same to two of my cars.

Whoa.....that's a rare little hardtop there............

 

It is pretty darn straight too. Usual rust in the back of the front fenders. Good glass all around a few small dents but very complete except for the missing 259 v8. It would clean up well. Don't know if I'll ever get to it.

 

If you can't get to it I know where it could find a new home. Love me some Larks.

 

Always liked this one, read somewhere that it was destroyed in a fire in California.
