Hello from southern Missouri! Can anyone point me in the right direction to discuss Chevrolet 235 I6 ? Thanks in advance!
TY, yes I did the search and there are many pages of threads, I was hoping there might be a dedicated discussion somewhere
Welcome from northwest Arkansas. Whereabouts in southern Missouri are ya? Lots of HAMBers in southern MO.
Gotcha. There probably is. You can Google 235 Chevy and add, on the H.A.M.B. in the search bar. Might yield a more specific hit.
Well, I just acquired what believe "might" be an old CCKW, 6x6 2 1/2 ton truck converted to a tow truck. I know the original CCKW s had the 270. I believe the current engine is a 235. The Block casting 3733949 says 1955 to me. It has the short side cover and does not have the 3 bolt deal under the exhaust, this tells me it's the full pressure oiling system. But the head casting 3836848 says 56-62 to me. I'm wondering if this combination is even possible or I've interpreted the numbers correctly.
Someone switched heads onto a 55 235 with full pressure oiling system. Pretty common to switch heads on a 67 year old engine.
the 848 head will bolt onto any full pressure oiling 235 , or 261 with some mods. not surprising things have been swapped and modified on your engine over the years. Fantastic engines post some pics of the engine snd your rig we like pics
No, it's gonna need torn down. The valve cover bolts are missing, it's full of rats nest and crap. Missing 5 spark plugs so I'm sure those cylinders are frozen. The water pump is frozen too. Pulled the dipstick and it's got the creamy latte sludge on it
Mmmmmm. Creamy Latte Sludge ... Lots of info here Lotta cream A little sludge,, No Latte. Great truck and WELCOME
Thanks for the info. I have never heard that term used. I will use it on my friend in Oldfield and see what he says.
Great truck, it will be interesting to see what it evolves into, hope you have deep pockets, there isn't any cheap parts or cheap tires on those rigs!
