History why is this front axle wrapped??????????

    Appears to have a y-block with no PCV system… Ray would be correct. We just can’t see the one at the rear of the engine..

    Look at the weird firewall…it isn’t wrapped, it’s upholstered.

    Nope, look at the center exhaust ports; they are obviously not siamesed like an Olds. Also, the valve covers are distinctive.

  19. It looks like the Car in the Garage is either a 49 or50 Mercury & the
    engine is a Ferd from the Valve Cover's Just my 3.5 cents.??

    I wonder if it wasn't wrapped to protect the paint on the axle while driving? Maybe it got removed when he got to a show, or whatever?

    Looks like a heavy piece of wrap on there loosely (as a matter of fact, it looks wrapped around a couple of times) and the car was probably pulled out of the garage/shed behind it. I'd say someone was preventing damage to the paint on the axle and using a floor jack under it to jack it up and pull some maintenance.

    That is my take also as the firewall wrap looks to be easily removed.

    I'm going paint protector and the firewall upholstery backer warped after the first year making it wavy.

    Is there a plate on the car in the garage to tell approx timeline ?

  28. I finally figured out what that piece of Cloth is........................................!
    In Cold weather You pull it up in Front of the Radiator to keep it
    From Freezing in the Cold Weather, they do that on Trucks.!

    Just my 3.5 cents

    Easier to remove than having to clean up than the greasy blow-by grunge puked from the Y block.
