Not my photo, it was sent to me by HAMBer Rudestude. An 8x10 b&w that
was pretty well faded and washed out. I wanted to see what I could do
with it (no Photoshop in this household).

    Hello,

With all of the rage of the pandemic putting a downward stamp on all activities indoors, folks have adapted to going outdoors with protection to keep somewhat sane during these hectic times. A large old hot rod panel truck is the custom way to stay away from the $120-200k Sprinter vans that seem to grow in numbers, with each week.

An old panel truck with plenty of room inside the back cave should be enough for an extended stay in just about any place outdoors. Privacy, comfort and pull out facilities to make life a rolling camper with some custom touches.

But, for those that require a little extra custom projects and fun, how about a custom trailer for the holiday season? Now that anyone can join the panel truck, camper van group locations, this seems like it would go over big time for the hot rod folks. As was the case back in the 50s and early 60s, when I worked at a place called the Kit Trailer Company near our Westside of Long Beach house. They were well known for the small “Kit” style of trailer.

These days, for us, a well built interior of a panel truck like the Ford panel truck would be just fine. No worries about towing, backing up or handling on winding roads, let alone the cross winds along the various highway intersections.

I showed this drawing to my wife and she chuckled. It was funny, but she said the panel truck by itself would be fine. But, for us old folks, being able to stand up would be better, despite the problems inherent in trailer towing. Add all of those ideas and all that comes with a towing camping vacation. What is not to like? YRMV
