Wow, that's pretty cool! I've had the 1954 picture saved for years, neat to know its lineage. Not many Model As with 6 cylinders either.
Our family is incredibly fortunate to be caretakers of the most beautiful, historic and last remaining REAL street roadster. We’re even more fortunate to be friends with the legendary racing driver Stan Back! Thank you for the post!
Just curious about the rims/wheels and wondering if those are off spacesaver spares...They have that look or they could also be steel winter rims as they call them...whatever they are we know they go to 200+mph...
Yep looks like the spare wheels which are aluminum but I'm sure different tires running.....think mine are 16" tire size.
Not very many race cars have had owners like this one, serious competitors all ! Jim, it got a good home.
The wheels mentioned above were fabricated to my specifications by Chariot Wheels in Fontana, California.
The history is incredible and the records set make it even better. When the time came to let new care takers continue the cars history the crafty Jim Kitchen made sure he vetted each individual interested. That alone shows how important it was to Jim to keep the history and legacy going Stan Back would be proud. He certainly picked the right family and I expect one day another record will be set since this car has such great potential. Ronnieroadster
I’m running those wheels on my dodge truck, 17”x7” 10 hole rears off of early 90s mopar and 16” 12 hole fronts from late model mopar minivan.
Those wheels are all 15". He uses those, for other things, to build wheels to order with offset, width, and two lug patterns to choose from.
