Don Lee….Indianapolis 500 Entries….1947 A very interesting Associated Press photo dated May, 5 1947, showing the Don Lee Ex-perimental Engineering Companies two entries for the Indianapolis 500, at an airport in Los Angeles, before being flown to Indiana.

The shop was visible from the parts store and here a worker is using a dry cylinder honing system equipped with a vacuum to keep the abrasives and cast iron dust out of the shop. To the right a small six-cylinder block sits on a shop-built boring stand with a cylinder boring bar positioned on top.
This 1915 or ’16 Model “T” Ford has been fitted with an interesting camper attachment complete with a draw like slide-out section serving as both a kitchen and table.
Jerry Quesnel's beautiful Barris built purple Merc, arguably the first 49 Merc ever chopped. This is the same car as the white Merc shown in the Jim Verden photos posted earlier. Mick
