    That's the oil cooler scoop, actually made the plane a little faster.

    I think it was referred to as the prestone cooler. The radiator for the engine. I could be wrong. Please correct me if I am.

    Yellow Jacket Boats were wooden boats made in Dennison, Texas from 1949-1959. At one time Roy Rogers was part owner and spokesman for the company.

    Wonder if this is before or after the BIG fire on Oriskany? Probably before because it took awhile to make repairs and get back to the war.

    in the late 1950s, they belonged to Nickey Chevrolet of Chicago and in a stroke of marketing genius, they were painted metallic purple and named after the hit novelty song “The Purple People Eater”

    Messerschmitt Bf 109, Black 14 (recon aircraft), captured after being shot down near Zarzis in Tunisia by British ground fire in March 1943. Shipped to Wright Field, Ohio, for evaluation and testing.

    Perhaps the Oriskany had a fire also; however, the "BIG" fire for the Navy during that period was USS Forrestal CV-59. In fact, the Navy uses footage from the Forrestal fire as a training film on what NOT to do during that type of event...

    Well I guess it's down the the word BIG the Oriskany had a SUBSTANTIAL Fire with 43 killed. :(
