Starting a gasser build. Something to have fun with running my friends at nostalgia races.

Cool car! I"m building a 49 coupe right now. Just a nice street car with a DeSoto 291. What motor and tranny are you going to run?

Nothing like an old Mopar Business Coupe.

I have a 49 Dodge and built it up as a street rod.. contemplated many times cutting out the aftermarket Mustang II and go straight axle.. consider if it’s hard duty to pass on a speedway kit.. Mopar or no car...ha ha just kidding...it’s all about having fun with cars...

Isn't that what the Ramcharger's High and Mighty was?

EDIT: I Googled and found High and Mighty was a 1949.

Plan to run Chevy power. Not sure if it will be SBC or BBC yet. Considering a transverse spring front end. Most likely a P/G but not chiseled in stone. 9 inch rear on ladder bars . Alot to decide/plan.

A lot of leftovers from other projects. Trying to build it while using up what's laying around.

That’s great! I know all about that. My single seater I built has parts from dodge, merc,Ford, Chevy,farm-all, Harley Davidson. I even used an aluminum weather head on my firewall that came of my wife’s aunts old barn that was being torn down. Use em all!

Been digging out parts and making plans. Was going to order a cage but bought tubing instead. Will bend up my own. I should have most of the big items. I don't consider myself a hoarder but I do like to hang on to the good stuff. This will be all home built old school. Guess I'm a pocket screwdriver feeler gage guy living in a digital world. It's all fun

Got back to the Plymouth today. Front cap removed and dash stripped. Small step but they are part of it. I know it will look like I'm backing up at times. Tomorrow the engine and trans will come out. Looks like it will be a SBC 4 speed car. I'm picking up a Jericho in 2 weeks

She is stripped out. Engine and transmission removed. Dash gutted. Time to move it inside. Going to cut the frame just aft of the front crossmember. It will get a 2x4 frame rails. Planning to use a 39 Ford front-end with disc brakes.

    Looks like a good builder.
I haven't got much done on mine. Been dealing with health issues. Think I've turned to corner. We get back to it soon. Pickup up roll bar tubing. That first on the list. Fix floor board. Thanks for checking in.
