I gave this one to my oldest daughter last week, it was tested at 116 MPH and we took a photo of it in front of the Carmel mission. Bob

I have one very similar that I retrieved from a '52 Buick sedan at an auto wreckers I worked at years ago. It reads; "Lady of the Highway Be with us on our Journey, For all thy ways are beautiful, and all thy paths are Peace We fly to thy protection, Oh Mother of God" A Catholic family down the street when I was a kid, their mom would recite these words when they got in the car to go more than a mile. Mine rode in my Cummins Dodge, a custom'67 Impala sedan and then my Sedan de Ville. Eerily the Impala
and the Dodge were destroyed by arson in my yard. It was placed in my Model A before its maiden voyage years ago. The back contains an endorsement by Thomas H. McLaughlin ,Bishop of Paterson, NJ 1954. It too has been tested at 106 mph.

I thought that I had posted on this thread already, but apparently I was wrong. I have a couple of old St Christopher Medals. The first one is the one that was in my first car when I got it. It was my Grandmother’s old car, and I remember this always pinned above the rear view mirror. The second one I bought at an auction. I guess it was NOS, as it was still on the original card. It is now on the dashboard of the ‘35 Chevy. The last one I just picked up on eBay. It is destined for the roadster pickup when it finally gets on the road.

  5. So there I was, kinda laying across the seat of my Model A... bleeding. Waiting for the ambulance to arrive. A young woman in her boyfriend's car ran a stop sign in front of me and I hit her straight in the driver's door at about 50mph. They weren't letting me move so all I could do was lay there staring at the St. Christopher medal on my dash thinking, "buddy, we're going to have words".

A few hours later when the Xrays and scans were coming back all clear — no broken bones, no internal injuries — I was thinking "Hey St. Christopher, maybe I owe you an apology". :D

Couldn’t help myself. Bought another one. Does anyone know how many different medals from the California Missions there are? I mean, there are 21 historic missions. Did they all make their own unique medals?
