160” George Wepplo SEMA tag 43 with Creitz 16” spoke wheels. 260 cu in Dodge Hemi with hilborn fuel injection. Frame found with no changes except some tabs added.

I’ll try and post photos as the build comes along.

Nice! What were the rules for C/D back in '67? Sometime in the late 70's I think C/D became inline wedge heads only. I have a modern day (somewhat, last run in 2012) C/D in my garage that I hope to run again someday. Just finished reading the Warren Johnson book. I believe Wepplo built WJ's vega that ran pro-stock and B/A.

C/D was for small cu in and lite weight cars. D/D was for flatheads in-line 6 and other combos. C/D couldn’t exceed about 4 lbs per cubic in. Max cu in was 300. Here’s a photo 67 C/D my dad had with Desoto

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing more of this project. Today c/d is 4.5lbs/cid minimum and runs 6.7s @ just under 200mph.

Today cleaned up all the added tabs and brackets that weren’t original. Found 3-4 places that will need to be tig welded but no major issues.

Right now we don’t plan on making updates to the frame. It is very hard to find a car that hasn’t been modified. It will be a cackle car.

Have the engine/powerglide mounted with handmade firewall and handmade motor mounts. Dad is doing all the Fab work and he is 85 years old.

Making a lot of headway. Engine goes in next week.

  22. A lot of the old frames are rusted from the inside out. I think as a cackle car you are ok but when hauling the car, build a support to keep the frame from flexing. You might avoid a surprise. :)

Thanks for the info. I was lucky that the frame has always been stored inside. We did as thorough a check that could be done including some repair work on two very small cracks. All paint was stripped off with a razor blade and not one area with rust was noted. We will cackle and maybe do a burnout but otherwise it won’t make full passes

Well we’ve finally got the dragster finished and cackled it at the Wally Parks Nostalgia Nationals this past weekend. Some photos. IMG_8952.jpeg IMG_8911.jpeg IMG_8951.jpeg IMG_8952.jpeg IMG_2749.jpeg
