In honor of Veterans Day 2021, let’s see some pictures of veterans with their cars or other transportation!

My grandfather, US Navy circa 1920’s with his Oakland.

20180724_173834.jpg Well here's papa before he left for the European theater, but I don't have any of his cars in pics. I know he was a Studebaker man, but did own a shoebox as well. He died when I was very young unfortunately, so I have very few memories. I remember his kegerator at the lake house, lol. I remember riding with him in a car vaguely. I remember the smell of his pipe smoke and how much I loved it. The sound of hard falling rain on the metal roof of his lake house. Small things.

  5. A good friend of mine did this painting as a surprise to my dad, back in the early 70's.

The image of the B-29 was intentionally softened to give the illusion of a ghost plain, the image of my dad was current at that time, Dad was a left blister gunner and was the only crew member to survive. HRP

Parking lot across from 32nd St Naval station, San Diego. Taken the day after we got back from vacation in the South China Sea, Feb. '67. It didn't last long, rod went out. Traded it for a '56 Olds which got stolen a couple weeks later. HPIM4870.JPG

   ...Leonard Benjamin Hayes

    https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/23176838/leonard-benjamin-hayes

This image is said to be 1936 in Leonard's obituary and I'm suspecting he is in military dress...He passed too young at 46 in 68...While his obit didn't mention serving he certainly was of that age at wartime to be involved in it...If anyone can confirm if this and the fella in my previous post are not in military duds or object to these posts as not relevant I will remove them...

    Lest we Forget

Paging @BigO...check out what's on the crown of the left front fender...;)

   ...Nice souped up 35 eh...;)

    Quoted from the Article...

Norm Sappenfield: Hot rod guy still making souped-up engines at age 84

"After serving in World War II, Sappenfield returned home and decided he wanted to be his own boss. So at the age of 23, he started a business and by 25 had built his own shop.

Calling the business NCP Motors, his company specialized in hot rod equipment and fabrication and occupied half a city block on Venice Boulevard in West Los Angeles."

    Thanks for your service Norm...

My rides were a little off topic, except for a 59 pickup, so no photos allowed of those but here's me and a deuce n half in Panama and a couple years ago with my 41 receiving a memorial award, surprised more people are not posting 216595_1029840074990_7456280_n-2-1.jpg FB_IMG_1503077300383.jpg
