More on dropped axles

I hear the So Cal. Speed Shop in Az. is
Dropin axles.

You supply the axle, and they will drop it up to 4" for
300.00 bucks.
That doesn't seem to high, and if you happen to have an
old wide beam 32....... Just doesn't get any better.

Anybody have any more info, or has seen the work yet?

Sorry no info but it seems alittle steep since you can buy new ones for a couple hundred.

 

We're doing them here in The Way back Garage, I'm not sure of the price but it'd probobly be cheaper to mail your axle to us and get us to do it then go to So-cal. They come up really nice, and we can powder coat it if you want.

Same guy that does them for me does them for So-Cal. I offer a HAMB discount too!

 

Can you see and then figure out what year axel I have in this pic and can it be dropped?? Thanks for the help dudes!

 

Looks like a 1935-1940 style wish bone and axle, yes it can be dropped. I recomend only going 2-3 inches with it. Any more can cause problems. If you need more the aftermarket axles provide more drop with better steering arm clearance.

 

Got a big beam 32 axle there getting done now. Will show pictures when I get it back.

Hay there Visor- I know a guy in Independence Missouri- that does an EXCELLENT job of dropping axles.Ive seen several in the bare.... He charges 300 and when he is done it looks like its never been touched!plus its a drive instead of shipping![Joey Engelman] is his name.He's the guy who built the little BLUE A modified that was in the books a while back with a QUAD FOUR MOTOR/s-10 5 speed[sidedraft webers and a belt drive Magneto!]

I just thought I would pass the info along that I heard about So Cal...... for those West Coasters that may have
been considering the Mor Drop bump.

In any case I would take an old Henry forged axle......
dropped by any of the guys on here over a new casted
axle any day.... Good to know there are more folks doin
it these days.
