I can never forget it LOL. As a new rookie I got one of the first ever A/C equipt State Police 1974 Plymouths pissed off a lot of the senior Troopers. Proud as punch driving it home for quartermasters shop UNTIL my ass and the back of my legs started itching like crazy. Got home and had the then wife check it out and my ass and back of my legs were covered in HIVES. Went to the doc in another car and he instantly knew what was going on "I bet you just were driving a brand new car"...... Well dam I sure didn't want to give up my A/C cruiser he said wash the seat down with baking soda until the smell was gone (it had the cheapo all vinyl heavy duty interior). Spent my day off wiping down that sear but it was hard to tell because that new car smell was coming off everything in the interior. Then the lightbulb came on and I went to the local Kmart and got one of those taxi driver seat cushions that was a bunch of 1/2 inch beads in a wire frame. Tried it out over my days off a little bit at a time and HOORAY it worked kept my parts off the vinyl and let air circulate. Used it for about 3 months until THAT SMELL went away but that seat sure wasn't made for 9 hours of driving at a time it was ALMOST as bad as the hives LOL. To this day when I smell a new car I flash back to that cruiser.
