With the 350 Pontiac V-8 I am putting in the engine bay, I need to relocate the battery to the trunk. Here's the new battery box I am making, that will hide it inside. cooler.jpg P50 cooler.jpg

You should mount it on the passenger side in the trunk. Over that wheel makes for more traction. Check the Ford T Bolt and Hemi super stockers that is where they mount them

There's a spare tire well over there. I plan on using it as hidden storage. In this car, there's only one place to put it! '50's cars don't always have the flat trunk floor like the '60's models.

  5. Nice build plan.
I'm contemplating using the left over 55 Pontiac motor and hydramatic for a little 1 person lakes modified. That little 287 [with '59 heads and intake] would make a teeny little modified sit up and talk!

That rope was a holdover from the early days of cars. Was meant to hold a blanket to keep the back passengers warm when it was cold outside as the heaters had a lot to be desired...

EDIT: Didn’t see the earlier post on this....

  8. I agree w/Rusty Heaps = "Don't do it ! ". Use it as is, you will get a ton more satisfaction out of it. You can OH the straight 8. They are really a heck of a motor, have just as many cylinders (8), just inline instead of 4 X4. Good luck, you are one lucky guy to have a '50 Pontiac.

A new '47 Ford Coupe project is forcing the sale.

I really don't understand how a guy can be "lusting after" a car so much, make a huge deal about buying the car, and then sell the thing a month later.

There are "Lusts" in life, and there are loves (also known as bucket list cars). One of the cars on my list was a '46-48 Ford Coupe. I just finally found one, and to finish it, this one has to go. I wish I was rich enough to keep and finish both, but the lottery numbers haven't come in for me yet!

I had about 4 of them of all body styles, and found out they weren't as exciting to own and work on as I thought. the front grill on them is a pain in the ass to remove! The bucket ran me over, and tore my quad tendon in my knee. I couldn't physically drive it or get in it anymore! I posted all of this.

  19. Cool...maybe we'll see it on the road someday. Hated to sell it. BTW, I never did find the envelope with all the contents of the glove box.

I hated to get rid of it as well, and now I am stuck with the '68 350 engine and trans he didn't want. I just needed the garage space to work on the new, nicer '47 Ford Coupe. At least I can drive that one now!

  22. Don't feel bad, Brian. I still have the 55 Pontiac engine with slant pan hydro in my garage. Just got a 25 T-bucket body today.....I may see a hot rod roadster in my future
