...Another priceless glimpse into the Big Picture, this Cabriolet or Coupester with lowered headlight position and size being applied and the shrouded horns perhaps covering a bobbed/cutdown grill due to dropped axle and possible channeling...1940s?

...Glenn Volz's 32 done his way...he picked up skills through work experiences, wartime training and with a love of cars ended up opening a speed shop in Salem, Oregon.

The Hotrod above was but one in his life around go fast and with its Desoto grill expertly fit to its nose it meets the theme of the Thread in style...

I have shared this Hotrod in this Thread some time ago but this time I found a link to share for his admirable rise through life's challenges...he was 85 in 2015 so I hope he's still well and working the shop he was still running at that time...

Hamber @pgan was given high praise for his 2009 coverage and interview with Glen in the article above I'll see if I can dig that up to add to help round this post out...;)...done...

"Note the headlight position too...that could be a clue of the era of the original routes of the Hop Up..."

There was a time when hot rods and car clubs were not well received. Some of it deserved. To combat the evil strict ordinances were often imposed to make it harder for these menacing machines to be allowed on the public streets. Some involved headlight height. In some places they were aggressively enforced. You could count on being pulled over at least once a night and have a couple of cops go over your ride with flash lights and tape measures while interrogating you in a very demeaning tone.:D

A former project of @BigO's really setting a mood coming together...34s of all the brands had the need for a modded nose when channeled...Looks good on them too...

Well, Many of us remember rods built by "poor boys" starting in the late '40s with what they could scrounge, swap, or barter. These fellows had so many ideas that relate to the present. My roadster is the typical Deuce highboy, red, steelies, hairpins, and early '40s caps and rings. My ride differs from today's "me too" because we like to cruise across the country, so it has overdrive, a/c-heat, even heated seats for one day a year. It fails to live up to the "traditional" moniker of the HAMB but I seem to be accepted here until I get "political". This forum is chocked full of guys and their ideas that sometimes are one-off and sometimes "me too, but it's all about rides. Ryan created a monster and it's out of control. HELL YES !

...where do those oddball ideas come from...many places...I wouldn't doubt many of these drag racers were repurposed Hotrods...

...Another glimpse albiet a very small one into the evolution of the super low slung Hotrods that often get lumped in with newer phenomenon, looks like the early 60s at a minimum...

A friend used to work for Moal. He made a lot of the trim pieces. He had to give it up when his vision got so bad he couldn't see his work. What a group of master craftsmen!

Oh and they're even a nice green...;)

Yeah, we must make the best of the things we many times take for granted as age has things in store for us that can dramatically change how our day evolves...I hope he's getting on okay despite that devastating reality he faced...

Yes regarding Moal's Craftsman...there are many of these shops that metals are shaped and sculpted expertly by those in the know...Always a joy to witness no matter which one is sharing their greatness and being here we are witness to a number of them fortunately...

...this vintage pics been trending here lately and I've seen it many times but just realized its grilless and without rad...you can see the coolant lines snorkeled off somewhere...

The frame is zee'd up front and there's a huge tank or some other kind of mod in the rear as well, exhaust thru the rear quarter...

Anyone know anything about this Hotrod?

I keep looking at this. What an attitude. Everything flows together. The owner/builder has a good eye.

Get that going fast enough it might become airborne...:D
Truly I'd like to see it in the wind tunnel...looks like the front might lift and rear push down...can't deny its aviation connections...
