Here’s a Cunningham vette that’s been uglied up

 

The three Cunningham Corvettes were featured last night on
Auto/Biography. It was on History channel.
The evolution was covered fairly well.

 

Yep! I watched it.... it was a shame what they did to the maroon one..

I watched the autobiography on the Cunningham Leman's Corvettes last night as I have always been a big fan of these cars. Can you imagine driving one of these straight axle (rear) C1s down the Mulsanne Straight at 150 miles an hour. It took a man to do that. As far as the show aside from the one Ferrari geek cohost who just about ruined the show it was ok. I did learn one thing I didn't know was the Cunningham family bought the car at auction and its now it the process of being restored back to its Lemans glory. What would make an even more interesting show would what happened to the forth Corvette from the 1960 Lemans entered by the Camoradi . My recollection was it stayed in Europe and raced at several races and was found abandoned in a ravine and then brought back to the US and restored.

 

The number 4 Corvette is now for sale by the family of Owner/restorer who passed away
Recently. Like the 3 Cunningham cars, the 4 car is a very important part of American racing
History.

For some reason, this picture, in my eye's, capture's what Drag Racing in the 60's was all about! Nothing sophisticated and having a good time. He almost looks relaxed, like he's just dickin' around in his driveway.
