My '57 Chevy had some roof rail rot issues, I tented the car and sandblasted the hell out of it, until all that was left was bare metal and holes, and then just slowly but surely welded up all the holes and deep pits and ground down the welds when I was done. It was kinda brutal, but there was enough left to do just that, and turned out nice in the end. Any pics of the damage on yours?

The rain gutter is missing completely on the passenger side. Driver side about 6 inches. The bad part is that it is sandwiched between the roof and upper body. So..... in order to do it right, the roof should come off. And I'm not smoothing them. Not an option. I bought 40 ford replacement ones for my conversion body but the profile wasn't the same as the 48. Same thing with this 47.... the 40 ford replacement one aren't the same profile. I plan on sandblasting the seam but then I need the gutters to put in there. 20210809_100352.jpeg

Damn, that's a tough one. I remember a long time ago there was a thread about a guy taking apart a cargo van roof to reuse the gutters from it, and I think once he had them separated he bent them to match the roof but it's been so long ago and that sounds like a lot of work. Not really sure what the answer is there.

Thanks. It'll be a pain in the ass no matter what. Now if I can find someone to post pictures of split bones on 42-48 ford chassis.

Some sections of my drip rail were rusted and I chopped the top and wanted to keep the drip rails so had to fabricate some sections of the roof. What I did to repair them was cut off drip rail from a sedan leaving about 3/4 inch flange. I made a jig to bend the rail after heating with a mapp torch. I then epoxied the drip rails in with 3M panel bond after blasting the seam. Its holding really well and added a lot of rigidity to my roof. I figure it will keep the rust out also. I can dig up some pictures if you want.
