    Harold Casaurang
    Born: November 6, 1927
    Died: September 30, 1956
Buried: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord, California
    Age: 28
Full Name: Louis Harold Casaurang, Jr.
    Nickname:
Drag Strip: Vacaville Drag Strip, California
    Event:
    Accident Date: September 30, 1956
    Car: roadster

Biographical: He was clocked at 134 MPH, the top speed of the meet, when his roadster crashed and he was killed. Just after crossing the finish line, he swerved to miss the timing tower. He tried to correct it, but the car went into a long skid, shot fifty feet through the air and landed on its top. He was crushed. He was from Concord, California, and was survived by his wife Evelyn who, along with 3,000 spectators, witnessed the fatal crash. It was reported after the accident that the paving was rough in the shut down area and may have been a factor in the inability of the driver to control and stop the car at its high rate of speed. He was a construction truck driver.

Yes, I think the car pictured is actually the CAL NEVA coupe but they may be one and the same.

...I found some really nice pics of this radical Crosley and the blurb seemed to accompany it not sure if Lloyd Krant had anything to do with it a Saugus in 1952 but he may have...we will connect those dots in time...or someone else will...

Treasure trove in here......can't get the pics to copy. Looks like the car was a Hayward Headhunters club car.
https://dragstriplist.com/ca This page doesn't want to load real quick....give it a minute.
Pics are approx. half way down the page.

Here's the caption on this pic.

A pic of the 56 Oakland Roadster Show with caption: (car in the upper right of the pic)

"This photo shows some of the sixteen cars entered by the Hayward Head Hunters in their club display at the 1956 Oakland Roadster Show. Courtesy of Don Jensen"

And finally a pic of a newspaper clipping with this description:

    Lions Drag Strip, 1956
    • The May 5, 1956 race at Lions drag strip was the last race my father ever competed in. The interesting thing is that my father's motorcycle was a 1943 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead motor with a 1930 VL frame with Triumph forks. I guess who ever write the newspaper clip only noticed the forks, therefore the mistake.

@Joe Blow According to this website California Drag Strip Personal Memories (dragstriplist.com) Vacaville was windy which could've played a role in the crash but he may have just over corrected too miss the tower. (scroll down to the bottom ,dragstrips are in alphabetical order)

Chop em all! The 32 has a 5 inch chop, the chevy has a 6 inch chop, and the 34, three window has a 5 inch cut as well.

This one says CAL-NEVA Coupe but looks like the one driven by Harold Casaurang at Bonneville and is on the cover of Hot Rod in '54. maybe the same coupe?
