  1. The bucket seats and center console make that a Futura, I believe.

I think the first official Futura as in 1963.

  3. I would add some headrests to the bucket seats, too.

This is an interesting thing. According to what I can find the Futura came out in 61. I decoded the body tag and it seems this car was special ordered.

64A - 2 door sedan or Futura Sedan
    C - Aquamarine body color
87 - Turquoise Leather interior. Which is odd because it seems only the Tbird had this option
    24G - July 24 build date
    3 - 2 speed Fordomatic
    J - 3.50:1 locking diff.

Could be. Does it have Futura emblems?

IT does have buckets and a center console. The seats are nicely redone but in maroon. My son wants to recover them in the original color if possible.

If that is the plan, I will be happy to buy those covers from you.

  10. Falcons coming with leather interior doesn't sound right, unless that's the custom order part.

I certainly have not seen one with a leather interior (until this one), but there is plenty that I have not seen, I'm sure..

I took my nephew under my wing after his father (my brother) died when he was 8 years old. Our project was also a Falcon, a 63 Sprint convertible, which of course had lots of rust. He spent four summers with me and learned to weld, shape metal, fabricate, prime, paint, and every ones favorite block and color sand. He and his older brother then drove it 1000 miles home. Not HAMB friendly when finished, Turbo T-Bird engine, MII ifs, and other modern updates but no matter; the four summers formed a bond that has lasted 39 years. It will be the best years of your relationship---good luck!

We went to the shop yesterday to get more info. First off, a HUGE thanks to Colemans for their generosity. The Rebel Wire harness will be a big improvement!

I checked the chrome. While it doesn't have any badges that say Futura, it does have the 6 chrome darts that go on the back fenders. I'm fairly confident that this is a Futura.

I got a few numbers off the engine...

November 6th for the cylinder head.
October 27th for the engine block.

C9DE....engine could have come out of a 69-70 Falcon or Maverick.

I didn't forget about the column.

I was out sick from the shop since last Wednesday. I should be there tomorrow.

In the meantime, here's how the top should appear.

The cup clip and spring that hold the turn signal mechanism to the switch have both vanished.

A circlip and a spring should be an acceptable substitute.

That should get you most of the missing hardware.

Send me a private message with your address, and I will send it down.

Also, it has the horn contact, which you are missing.

If that eng is in fact a later eng it could be a 200 which would be great.

200 is a great motor and of course will be hydraulic lifter. There should be a milled boss on the left side of the engine block at the front right behind the water pump with a date code stamped in.

  28. That is one clean bird. I walked right by those ( & there were plenty) when i was a teenager in the 80s. Lately though, i have been looking for a clean fairlane, falcon, or even comet. They all disappeared in 1990 apparently

So much better than the 144, and 170. I had a 63 with a 200 and the 2 speed auto. Changed to a c4 and thought I was driving a different car. That extra gear make a big difference.
