I am trying to determine the manufacturer of the following kit. This conversion came with the front frame stub that I grafted back onto my ‘40 and I need to find the manufacturer to determine if there are shims or anything else that this is missing. This kit has interference issues with my steering arms that will not allow me to mount the caliper. Can anyone help identify this kit. It uses the following parts: PN 4148 - wheel seals PN 18-4020/18-4022 - 1984 C-10 calipers/pads PN LM67048 - wheel bearing PN LM11949 - wheel bearing PN L68111 - outer bearing race I have not been able to identify the rotor but believe this is from a Ford. with the following brackets (see attached pictures) that also show clearance issues.
It's not the kit that Scarebird sells now for sure. 1939- 45 Plymouth Deluxe, Special, P15 front disc (scarebird.com) I'm doing some more searching to see if I can match the seal or bearing.
Thank you! I have been searching for a while now and I think it could be RustyHope's kit. This stub is old enough that it could have been Plydo (now Fatman Fab). It isn't ECI for sure, TSM or Scarebird. I will check with Andy Bernbaum in the morning. Thanks for the help!
I was trying to compare your photo of your spindle and upright against Scarebirds photo of the Plymouth spindle that they put their kit on. I can't tell what the rotor is but you might look for numbers plus take a photo of it from the front with the wheel off. Ford style studs are a tad different than other brands usually.
I'm interested in this . I have a 40 Desoto and a 47 Desoto Suburban I want to put disc brakes on. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and what they used. I know some one probably put their own kit together from different parts. Would love to chat or know what you did. Looking to do a three inch drop front and back.
If you changed the N/S bracket for the O/S so the caliper is now at the front rather than at the rear would this work.
This might be worth having a look at usmc72 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/p15-d24-to-95-2001-explorer-disk-conversion.702258/.
