    Hello,
It is an iconic custom car and should be the all time high of $975k. The headline will be, "just under a million dollars..." Not bad for a 70 year old custom car.

Some will not like the color combination, but for any high cost item, it is what it is… The sad thing is, a reserve will nullify all bids and the car will sit in someone’s garage for eternity, until it is donated to a car museum.

An XL will be just fine, this time around… If the shirt is anything like the 2020 HAMB drags cancellation shirt and quality printing, that is a good prize. Something I can wear weekly with our So Cal attire 365 days of the year.

Sounds like a scene from The Magic Christian...

...I wonder if the package comes with any of the awards, showcards and other paraphernalia that were given out in appreciation of this rolling work of motorized art over the years?

    RIP Bob Hirohata

The Kookie T and Golden Sahara collectively sold for a mil AND both got restored, which I have no clue what those restorations cost.

With that in mind, the Hirohata Merc will cross the auction block with a well-documented restoration already completed and I assume that counts for something. The winning bidder won't be sending this car over to Brizio's.

    My guess, 1.625 million.

Mecum's buyer's premium is 10%. Florida's sales tax is 6% plus "local discretionary fees' which I don't know. What pot are you trying to stir up with your "antique car tax"?

  13. Did I say anything about the person's wealth? As I have said several times on the H.A.M.B. there are rich guys with cars, and then there are rich car guys. Like Jay Leno, Reggie Jackson.

Gold Chain, Pinky Rings refers to the trend chasers who buy things just to impress their friends. Today it's cars, next week when they bore with cars it will be race horses, six month from that, it will fine art after that who knows.

I truly don't believe that is necessary nor at all standard protocol when or after purchasing a Hotrod or Custom and this badge above clearly identifies its origins and is a more than a notable signature of its Customizers...

It'll cost a small fortune just to repack wheel bearings and put oil in the transmission (if it has one) and diff before you can take it for a fang. Imagine how stale the engine oil and gas must be?

I don't think it's fair to assume it hasn't been regularly started and maintained...

I think it should always have Barris in the name, like Hirohita/Barris Mercury. Hirohita had the cash, the dream, the desire to have the Barris brothers build him a custom Merc. Once the car was finish and the cash traded hands from Bob to Sam and George, all rights of ownership of the car and the work, belong to Bob. The Barris brothers did the job for money and representation of their skill level, Bob, "good/bad/or indifferent" did it because he wanted a custom Merc.

If your gonna add Barris to it. You might as well add McNeil to it to . Hirohata/Barris/McNeil Merc. McNeil did buy it in the 60`s ,or so and hung on to it forever. Then restored it himself. And never sold it.
