I ended up finding a good size set of Hot Rod Trading Cards today at a local auction. This set was put out by the International Championship Auto Shows. I don't know how many were available, but this is the set I got.

Curious to know how many different series of Hot Rod and Custom trading cards there are out there? Anyone else have some examples?

I think I may put these in a shadowbox or something nice to show them off. 20211026_130957.jpg 20211026_131128.jpg 20211026_131138.jpg

That’s cool. Never collected baseball cards but I would collect those.

  3. I have some from this set as well.

There are also smaller Barris cards.

  4. Those are great! I have one of the Ruby T like @Sancho ‘s from Barris.

  5. I've got a ton of those that I bought everytime I went to"SHOPPERS WORLD" with my Mom. Put a coin in the machine and out comes some cool cars. Was just looking at them yesterday. Some weren't really Hotrods per-say, just show cars or one offs maybe. Mitch

Those Barris cards are cool! And @swade41 its neat that they had an idea to do that as late as 2018 with older style drag cars on em!

Personally, I'd have to pass on the gum!

Great......another thing to have to collect...;);)

these were called arcade cards and were sold out of penny machines

  11. Kustoms Illustrated would put a trading card in each issue, I think just for subscribers. Its about the size of a post card. I have a couple of other ones, but then a whole stack of the Taboo ones, lol.

Here’s an ad page that was on the penny machine that dispensed the arcade cards

@Taboo56Chevy that is one of the many reasons I love Custom Illustrated!

@Moriarity looks like I have a lot more to collect. Wonder how many of this style was produced? You have any idea? It looks like many more than the 32 as stated.

When I was a kid I used to buy some cards that had show cars on them at the drug store up on the corner. I never got a complete set....I don't know where they landed....I do remember those vivid candy and metal flake paint jobs though.

I don't think it is a misspent youth studying hot rods, seems completely normal to me, I would be more worried about people that call themselves "car people" that don't know these cars!!
