Had a 2.76 rear gear in an OT car with 3500# and a 318.
Decent off the line, great on the freeway. Could downshift to 2nd (auto) at 70 and walk bigger engine cars with steeper gears, and cruise nice and calm normally.
With your torque and weight, it should be a great combo. No need for 3.5+ gearing and a big engine in a go kart, it will just light 'em up at any speed.

Been busy with work for the last month or so, but we've been slowly plugging away. I finally got the body sprayed. Feels like a big load off my shoulders now..lol
Running fuel lines this week and buffing the body. Hopefully have it married soon.

Are you going to brace the body with any wood? This would add marginal strength and ease mounting the upholstery.

moedog, he mentioned the frame as a Spirit, and the earlier shots of the underside showed a thick floor and double wall rocker area. It also has the visible wood seat back and full inner door. While I'm used to seeing a tack strip/strengthening rib around the upper flange, I get the impression this body is well braced. Judging from the pics on Spirit's website, it quite possibly might not be one of their bodies, but I'll let TrueBlue answer that.

Yes, its actually braced on the sides. can't really tell from the pic. Im boing to put a few more in for upholstery on the driver side as well. It is a Spirit body with the floor. I also installed a sheet of plywood over the floor to help strengthen it.

Okay, I enlarged the photos and can see the body braces behind the seat back/base. Old eyes vs phone screen.

Looks like a super fun build, look for ward to seeing the progress!

Also, not critisisizing just asking: If you blew a front tyre would the lowest point be the front wheel or the steering box?

Slowly adding pieces to the puzzle. Down to headers, wiring and interior.

Started on the headers today. Long story short, my car sat at a shop for 2 months earlier this year getting Headers built, only to be lied to week after week, and ended up picking my car up and decided on doing them myself. So here we are. Never even attempted to build a set, but off to a decent start today. Only tacking them together for now..I’m going to have a buddy tig them up afterwards. Any tips or tricks? Or am I totally fudging them up already? Haha

Great build. What is the blue part in the brake line near the master?

Welp I suck at making headers..but I’ve got them “roughed” in. Literally. Good think my buddy is a welder, cause I got a few gaps to be filled. But overall not gonna complain. Better than paying someone to sit on their ass for 2 months and still not do the job.

slowly adding pieces to the puzzle. Windshield installed, heads and tails mounted. One header wrapped. Now we’re About to start on the wiring. My brain is fried from trying to figure out wiring diagrams.
