Not sure of the year, but this is a French built C.G.V. The unique radiator is the clue. Notice the canvas seat covers that protect the diamond tufted leather upholstery. May have made for cooler seats in the summer. Bob

  4. I am probably wrong but it seems to me that Oakland made one that resembled that.

The thing that makes it most difficult is that they seem to be Euro cars and may not be exported American made cars. The Euro cars even if they were American manufacturers are often hard for us to identify. IE French ford does not look exactly like and American Ford.

The C.G.V. I identified for Bob is circa 1906 and older than the other vehicles. The sporty two-seat car second from left may look somewhat like a Mercer Raceabout but it isn't one.

Thank you David, the raceabout has a distinctive radiator and crank handle support that doesn't match any internet photos I've looked at. Bob

Based on the radiator shape this may be a Thomas Flyer.

  8. Could have been a Thomas as they did produce a "Town Car". They were headquartered in Buffalo NY. 1908_Thomas_4-20_Town_Car.jpg

Crazy stuff you find researching your ancestry...
Thought folks might enjoy this form the Jun 11th 1889 edition of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

Soooo....it seems it was Grace - JW Masury senior's 2nd wife (37 years his junior :) ) who had these cars since he died in 1895. She wasn't even 40 at that point.

More photo evidence to suggest the first car is a Thomas Town car, the center mounted side lights match. There was one in the Bill Harrah collection back in the 1970's.

  11. I would say we are half way there with the two left ones identified as a Thomas Town Car and the French built C.G.V.

  12. #1 and #3 may both be Stutz- the radiator shape and badge are correct/close- we had a '13 Stutz touring in the shop when I worked at Robinson's in Schwenksville :D

  13. #4 may be a Stevens Duryea, although the hood line looks lower in the OP pics

Car #4 on the far right has a very short hood, I'm looking through photos of the small 16 HP FIAT 1906-1910 for clues that match. R (6).jpg

So far I've looked at every large 1910 era car with a square tube style radiator core and that tube style crank support, only one has both. FIAT , the midsized one not the big monster, but someone put the same size headlights on this one on the bottom. Bob eb6a76aa58fcd4780b60162ee7a99bd4.jpg c4xa23kdxcc0.jpg

The Packard radiators were rather unique at the time, and all the cars have Connecticut plates. A friend ran the numbers and they have different owners, it must have been a social event, not car wash day. The Thomas Town Car plate # 12264 belonged to Lucile Shelton of Shelton, Ct. FIAT # 14720 belonged to Jacob Greenburg of New Haven, Ct. Is the car on the far right C2934?

This looks similar to the race about.
Not sure what it is but it’s from the 1907 Giants Despair Hillclimb in Wilkes-Barre, PA. DAFED451-ADD8-4A3D-B875-EE79D9A98FA9.jpeg
This event is still going on every year.
