    When the piston is up and both valves are not pressed the engine is on the fire stroke, right. I dont want to be 180 out

    Watch the intake valve. When it just closes, continue rotating until your TDC mark lines up. You will be on the compression stroke if you do that.

    Depending on what cam and or engine, the plug fires at 4-12° btdc... On the average...
