Have a great trip. We're all riding with you along with your dad. And as everyone has already said there are a boat load of HAMB'rs along you're route that are there if you need a hand. Pictures from the trip if you can and drive safe.

At this point the only advise I have is run on the top half of the fuel tank...
but then again I'm just used to an 11 gallon tank.
You are really prepared so 'go man, go' and enjoy the music of the road....

Denver is sunny & clear, the weather is s'posed to be great for another week. May get to high 60's or low 70's.
Best of luck & enjoy the drive.

Looking forward to seeing your updates. Keep your speed down to reduce stress on suspect components. Enjoy the ride!

Jim, I don't doubt his mechanical abilities, but traveling that distance and expecting that nothing will go wrong is pretty optimistic thinking.
I do wish him good luck on his trip..............

I consider myself to be a "realist", someone who accepts a situation as it is and is prepared to deal with it accordingly. Thats neither pessimistic or optimistic.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Squirrel is recommending that I avoid highway 25 through Denver. Any suggestions?

At least find where the construction is, and figure out how to avoid it. I hit it late at night on a Thursday, and it was one lane, slow going.

False alarm! The car is ready but I have so many loose ends to tie up around Dad's place to secure it and prepare for my absence, and I don't want to leave late in the afternoon. So I'll pull out of here really early tomorrow morning

  15. You probably want to stay on interstates, cities..just in case, but I wouldn't take 25 through Denver on a bet.
If the car is running good to CO, I'd jump off at Trinidad and US 350...Follow Google maps and join I 76 farther east.

One of the planned stops is to visit an uncle in the Denver area.

Depending on exactly where the uncle lives - Paying for the 470 toll road to avoid downtown Denver on the way to I-76 might be a "good investment".

Depends on where your uncle is in Denver I guess.
He might have a handle on the best time of the day to travel thru there for traffic, I think a lot of it is in timing. I-25 between the Springs and Denver was a mess the last time I traveled thru, due to road construction. Made Denver look like a piece of cake.

My condolences on the loss of you dad.
Sounds like you have a great adventure ahead, I love it!!
Yes, as already mentioned.....I25 between Colorado Springs and Denver has construction, and north from Denver to Fort Collins is a shit show/mess due to road construction. Just depends upon your route.
Safe travels, we'll be looking forward to your updates along the way!!!

I have a feeling you're gonna make it without any problems Joel. If you give the fan a wiggle and it doesn't move then that bearing should live just fine. Can't wait to see the updates!! Don't forget the icy hot, the seats in that thing are awful and your back will be tired. I didn't see if you got the top down, but if you did I hope you get some wind in your hair!! Also, I wish I was on the route, it'd be cool to see you goin' by!

Good luck on your trip man, keep us posted.

And it goes without saying that we all extend our condolences on the loss of your dad. I do have to say though that I think it's super rad that your dad was such a gearhead, and he passed that on to you, and now you to your son. That's an incredible legacy to leave behind. We all have to go eventually, but to leave that kind of positive impact on the lives of loved ones is something very special.

Avoid Colorado altogether, if you can. I hate driving through that $&@king state.
